And people fanboy it so god damn much that they literally won't allow themselves to enjoy Oblivion and Skyrim.
Apparently fast travel is an earth shattering deal breaker to Morrowind fans LMAO. They're crazy about using taxis and would take it to the end of the world to prove to you why they're the best thing ever. However, fast travel isn't even a new feature. It was used in Daggerfall. You HAVE to use mark and recall(yeah good luck with that if you're not a mage at all). Also map goal setters triggers Morrowind fans greatly LMAO. Vivec has to be one of the worst-designed cities in any game. Luckily the bad design and the game's shitty mechanics of the city makes it a great place to train your jumping skills which you will definitely need if you wanna get anywhere in the game. Speaking of which, you will also HAVE to learn how to fly in order to progress the story. Great stuff. Also, when installing and freshly playing Morrowind, make sure you aren't using the expansion Tribunal yet. Because if you are some OP assassin will come 1-3 shot you even at the very beginning of the game. This is obviously a very bad game design but fanboys will tell you it's an "oversight". NPCs factually gave you awful directions to get to places. The best thing to do is to follow signs and even then you can still get easily losted or get ganged up by the fucking worst enemies in the world called Cliff Racers. I've read some guides and some people told me to get to Ghost Fence ASAP for some awesome loot. Of course everyone made it sound like it was a cake walk but it factually wasn't. Getting lost and getting rekt by Cliff Racers on the way there would turn any normal gamer off but some how the fanboys tolerated it. More to come. --- Don't like it? Don't watch it. I quite like Super Metroid, it may possibly be my favorite SNES game, but I appreciate your opinion SM is definitely a great and fun game. But because people blindly love it so much they won't allow themselves to enjoy Fusion or Zero Missions. Kinda like how Morrowind fans love Morrowind so much they won't allow themselves to enjoy Oblivion or Skyrim. I read everything in the OP. I am a fan of Morrowind, and I agree with some of your points, and points made by others. Playing on PC, with the right set of mods can fix most of those issues, but installing mods can be lots of work. It's not a perfect game, or even close, but I find the effort worthwhile.
On Oblivion and Skyrim - Oblivion is a great game, and I still play it frequently. Skyrim, well, I tried to like it, I wanted to like it, but it just didn't grow on me like the other two. --- "That one's called the monkey claw because it feels like my colon is being torn apart by a thousand monkeys." - Sir Terrance Henry Stoot ... And people fanboy it so god damn much that they literally won't allow themselves to enjoy Oblivion and Skyrim. I love Skyrim, but Morrowind is vastly superior. Apparently fast travel is an earth shattering deal breaker to Morrowind fans LMAO. Yeah fuck those guys. It does work well in Morrowind, though. The map is smaller and the places you cant fast travel to are supposed to be desolate and separated from the civilized part of the land. Vivec has to be one of the worst-designed cities in any game. Luckily the bad design and the game's shitty mechanics of the city makes it a great place to train your jumping skills which you will definitely need if you wanna get anywhere in the game. Agree on every point. And yes I definitely jumped up those ramps every time! XD Speaking of which, you will also HAVE to learn how to fly in order to progress the story. Great stuff. Eh. Luckily I was an alchemist so I had plenty of potions to help me with this. I get what youre saying, though, it is kind of whack that they force your character to have a certain attribute. But its still better than Skyrim which makes being a pure stealth illusionist (potentially the funnest character type in the game) all but useless against the unlimited dragons abound. But why wouldnt you want a character that uses some form of levitate? The game has all sorts of goodies hidden in high places and it makes exploring easier in general. Also, when installing and freshly playing Morrowind, make sure you aren't using the expansion Tribunal yet. Because if you are some OP assassin will come 1-3 shot you even at the very beginning of the game. This is obviously a very bad game design but fanboys will tell you it's an "oversight". Agreed. Skyrim sort of had this problem, too because Miraks messengers are most likely too powerful since youll likely be low-level when you encounter them. Its like they constructed it strictly for players who had already beaten the main quest, and didnt even think about new saves. I cant remember having any problems with bad directions. At some points they were a little vague, but I was always able to manage without using a guide. But yes, FUCK cliff racers. If I ever replay the game, Im going to find a way to remove them. ... The thing I loved about Morrowind was the freedom, and I am not talking mods just the base game.
You could make rings that cast spells, you could wear individual pieces of clothes/gloves. You could wear clothes over clothes or armor. You could make spells to summon legions of monsters before it froze. You could fly while raining destruction on cities. The list of things you could create goes on and on. The later games kept cutting/gutting options instead of at least keeping to a set amount until finally there isnt even custom magic anymore. I truly miss that freedom to make any character basically anything I wanted. I agree the rest of the game is overrated, but still no game to my knowledge has even come close to it in freedom of build. --- Water+Fall=Radiation. ... Copied to Clipboard!

Now money was hard to come by, but there were probably ways around that also. Money is another thing Morrowind did better than Oblivion or Skyrim, at least in proportion to artifacts. In Morrowind, a unique artifact was worth its weight in gold - often commanding tens of thousands of Septims that no merchant feasibly had that amount of money to outright purchase, not without haggling down substantially. In Skyrim, a legendary Daedric artifact might be, like, 8K gold. In Morrowind, it's worth about 75,000. --- "And you can't tell me what my spirit tells me isn't true, can you?" ...
