You keep trying to question that it's not going to work, yet 1) They specifically putting in text saying that it does, and 2) Many people have done it successfully.

It MIGHT change because of the "subject to change" text they have in there, yes. Might. But regardless of how much you choose to doubt and think/hope/whatever that it's not going to work, the bottom line is right now it does and was clearly intentionally made to work.

Dude, the ONLY way to do this is to buy gold before then do the $1. The $1 is for ONE MONTH. It literally says it in the description above, you're converting ONE month of GOLD to ULTIMATE. If you do the 1 MONTH before hand you cannot "do this". You are NOT getting this amazing this you guys think you are lol.

I'm confused. So you buy $180 worth of xbox live gold (3 years) and you get game pass for $1 for 3 years too?

Yes. And 1 year pass is $50 on cdkeys now. So 151 for 3 years of gold + gamepass for PC and console

I know that's how you do it, I never said otherwise.

But again, you keep trying to argue against what many people have already done. If you go out and buy 3 years of Xbox Live right now at $180, (or whatever you find it for) sign up for it, and THEN do the $1 Game Pass Ultimate sign up, it converts all 3 years of your Xbox Live to Game Pass Ultimate for $1. So you've paid $181 for 3 years of Ultimate Game Pass/Xbox Live.

Again you keep trying to argue as if that's not what's going to happen, and many people have already flat out done it. So you can say all you want that it's not how it's done, that it will change, or whatever, but as it stands people ARE doing it. So your opinion as of now is conjecture. It just is.

They don't they literally say it on the description. You're literally wasting $150.

edit: Everyone here seems to think the $1 of ultimate converts your WHOLE Gold subscription to ultimate. It does NOT, it converts ONE MONTH.

Oh complete chance. Subject to change in the terms. Obviously Microsoft didn't intend for you to get $1 Game Pass for 3 years. That would be wasted money on them. A lot of wasted money.

Once that month runs out, people are gonna be disappointed.

Yes, but it converts to ultimate the time you "purchased". People who purchased 3 years of Gold, purchased GOLD NOT Ultimate. Then purchased ultimate for ONE month. The system as we all know is glitched as fuck right now, hence why they put the "ratio is subject to change" You will get the ONE month you purchase then the other time will convert to Gold, it is not re-converting to Gold because you ONLY purchase 1 month of ultimate. The ONE month of ultimate cannot be reconverted to Gold.

they did, it's on the page, it's informed to you as your purchase, and it's verifiable on your subscription page after. I figured it was a glitch too, when things seem too good to be true, they usually are. When i saw it specifically mentioned on their page and saw it explicitly stated as i went to purchase, i knew it wasn't a glitch and is intentional.

it's not a glitch or an oversight it's a sales tactic to get early adopters locked into their eco system as new consoles are coming out. You can realize that, verify it on your own, or you can rant and rave that everyone is wrong like the guy embarrassing the marines right now.

Or you can go into support, confirm and make informed decisions. Rather than go by chance and end up wasting $150. But again, I'm with customer service right now, whatever is official I will post it here.

Also, there's really no reason to put stock in what a customer service agent says. I really doubt they know any more than we do right now.

I agree but the thing is they are claiming this is 100% legit, it's not, nowhere does it say it is, a little common sense should tell you you're taking a major back door.

edit: Everyone wasted their $. The customer agent literally said "I have checked your account and seen that you indeed have a 1 month Ultimate gamepass."

re-edit: I'm still with them, there's major confusion about this. I'll keep updating. The most important thing is THEY can see I have Ultimate for ONE month, though that information is not available to me through the site.

Yes, the one guy who does shit right. I can confirm this topic is CORRECT. If you purchase Gold, whatever amount it will convert to ultimate. As of know I believe this is them being extremely oblivious to what they just did, but it is indeed correct.

I requested a copy of the transcript in case they decide not to honor it as I just paid $100 (if you purchase 3 years, you override what you previously had). My recommendation for everyone who did this is go to support, go through all the motions being like "Hey, I want to make sure this is correct?" so you can have something to fall back on in case they reverse ship.

you need to update your PC

and then basically use the gamepass app to see what games you want to dl and just download the ones that are on PC

it'll say you 'own' it

I can't install the app on my PC, says its not "Ready" for my device.

re-edit: nevermind, I need the app, which I can install

The reason I doubt it is indeed is that they have the full pricing for Ultimate already and the ONLY way to do this is trying to cheat it from the get go. There's no actual promotion for this. But anyways, point is, it works and we have the full backing of at least 2 customer service agents.

You can just install games straight from the MS Store, I don't think you technically "need" a Game Pass specific app. Now when I go to the MS Store, it just lets me install Metro Exodus, etc on my PC. I'm installing Marvel vs Capcom Infinite right now.

And yeah.....I mean it just doesn't make logical sense why they would do this. Yes it DOES say my Game Pass Ultimate is paid up through 6/2022....but why? Why would they INTEND for themselves to forego huge, huge dollars by having it work this way?

Yes...your existing days are converted based on some ratio.

Which means that if you have 12 months of gold, and you convert to Ultimate, you should have less than 12 months of Ultimate. You should have whatever length of time of Ultimate is equal to the cost of your 12 months of Gold.

If this isn't working properly, then it's broken, and expect your subscription period to get slashed.

upgrades your existing Xbox Live Gold or Xbox Game Pass membership(s) to Ultimate at a conversion ratio each based on days remaining

This is what "makes sense" but no, I already went through customer service and it is as the OP stated.

Why would they INTEND for themselves to forego huge, huge dollars by having it work this way?

it's called advertising, it's also giving them a surge of cash now, cash now is better than cash tomorrow in nearly every business. Not to mention locking you into their eco system when you start deciding which console to buy next year. "well i've got gamer pass ultimate and so do my friends for the next 2 years still, i don't really want to pay for PS+ and live, so i guess i'll go scarlett"

the x1 launch was a pr nightmare, this puts scarlett in a good pr position out of the gate.

You're right on everything except advertising, literally no one is advertising this. What's being advertised is Gamepass Ultimate $1 for one month, nothing more, nothing less. The system is broken, but they're allowing it.

bruh, social media is how you effectively advertise now. I found out about it from reddit, nearly every gaming group is talking about it.

The "ratio" is literally 1:1 up to a maximum of 36 months.

Game Pass ultimate is not a subscription add-on. It is a new, higher tier subscription of XBox Live Gold. You are allowed to perform a one-time conversion upgrade of your existing subscription.

It works the other way around, which is again why all of this makes no sense.

AFTER you sign up for Ultimate for the first time (which is what we're all doing now,) when you add Gold months to your account it converts those Gold days to a lower amount of Ultimate days.

So if I'm currently subscribed to Ultimate and I redeem a 3 month Gold card, I get 50 days of Ultimate.

And yes, I get the whole "This is an advertising/ecosystem/etc strategy for MS." I get the angle. It still doesn't make it any less sensible for a company to potentially forego MASSIVE amounts of revenue. This is not something that companies willingly do very often. Sure, they'll do the "first month is $1" part. But it's a rare, rare instance where you can sign up for the cheaper service for 3 years and then have it converted to the more expensive service for 3 years for $1.

Everyone is going to have their opinion on it and fine, whatever. It is what it is. It's just really, really weird to me that MS is (supposedly) doing this willingly to allow me to buy 3 years of Ultimate Game Pass for $181 (or a little cheaper if you use other sites) and I will essentially have that paid for in like 6 months. Halo MCC, Gears 5, and pick any other 1 game and you've basically got your ~$180.

After I join Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, can I still redeem Xbox Live Gold and Xbox Game Pass codes?

After you join the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate plan, you can continue to redeem Xbox Live Gold and Xbox Game Pass codes. These codes will automatically convert to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate at a ratio based on the ERP (Estimated Retail Price) of those codes.

Token says

You get

1 month of Gold | 20 days of Ultimate

3 months of Gold | 50 days of Ultimate (1+ month)

6 months of Gold | 79 days of Ultimate (2+ months)

12 months of Gold | 4 months of Ultimate

24 months of Gold | 8 months of Ultimate

1 month of Xbox Game Pass (Console Games) | 20 days of Ultimate

3 months of Xbox Game Pass (Console Games) | 2 months of Ultimate

6 months of Xbox Game Pass (Console Games) | 4 months of Ultimate

12 months of Xbox Game Pass (Console Games) | 5 months of Ultimate

24 months of Xbox Game Pass (Console Games) | 10 months of Ultimate

1 month of Xbox Game Pass PC Games | 20 days of Ultimate
