it was rumored a year ago or so, but nothing really compelling. I'm just being very hopeful given xenoblade 2's massive success

They just said in an article that the next Xenoblade has been in development for 10 months and they generally take 2-3 years to finish.

But maybe there's still hope for their other new IP!

My heart skipped a beat when I read that. Every year the dream fades a little more... getting this announced at E3 would be like, 2015 with the 7 Remake + Shenmue 3 reveals.

I've been calling XS Trilogy on Nintendo since the Wii U days, so it'd be cool for it to finally show up.

I wish they were just doing what they did in 2015 where Smash Bros. got a separate direct. As for the new character, it's really up in the air. It's probably Erdrick, which still leaves a lot of possibilities on the table for the rest of the cast since as soon as he was "officially" leaked he started showing up in every single "leak." If it's someone like Banjo or Ryu Hayabusa that's shown up in a specific leak, that pretty much confirms the rest of the cast. Maybe it will be somebody that nobody has called yet though and really throw everyone for a loop, and make the rest of the cast totally unpredictable.

I'll make a full list of predictions later.

Well yes the common theory is that they or their source were indeed hacking into the marketing servers or something similar.

But even if they can't actually stick anything to Sabi, it's still a good scare tactic.

We got new information about Sun/Moon back in 2016, though I can't find any evidence there was a Nintendo Direct that year for E3 (they did have Treehouse, though). I've tried looking around on Youtube and couldn't find a Nintendo Direct for E3 2016. The new Sun/Moon information happened during Treehouse, while Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon was completely absent from E3 in 2017 and Let's Go was shown off in 2018.

Nintendo will be streaming the E3 Direct on both Youtube and Twitch for sure.

Okay here's my prediction...

Highlights:
-Animal Crossing - name, gameplay, features (including WiFi), new characters, September/October release.
-Fire Emblem - more details on story and gameplay; NOT delayed
-New IP - I'm going to guess an open-world smash-em-up; maybe with robots? Maybe monsters? Not coming out until next year.
-New Kirby game - It's been over a year since the last release. That's like decades in Kirby downtime.
-Smash DLC - just to be safe I'm going to guess Erdrick.

Also appearing:
-Pokemon Sword/Shield
-The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt port - next year
-Final Fantasy XIII port - holiday
-Indie real
-Revival of a long-dormant first-party IP (F-Zero? Golden Sun?) - not much info, still probably in early stages

I think we'll get more information on Super Mario Maker 2 because Nintendo didn't allow some stuff from the game to be revealed by the professional reviewers who were invited to play the game and post their own recorded footage. Clearly Nintendo had to hold back some information about the game so they can reveal it themselves at a later time.

namco bandai still owns the publishing rights to xenosaga. so its not impossible for xs trilogy but its not as simple as nintendo just wanting it
