Had this happen last year, two days straight of killing flies then they all left.

My wife killed I think eight or nine yesterday, I've already killed about the same today. These ones are smarter though, they're chilling near the skylight (which might have a hole in it I need to get it checked out).

About the right time of year for work to start getting invaded by these black beetles too. Be curious if I'll see some when I go back for my week of nights. Can get so bad you just kill them and then sweep them up after a while. Like a dustpan of the little shits

Something specific about the type of lab setting. We got them at my old job doing the same stuff for a different company.

Glad I'm not the only one -_- Only because people can relate.

Last year it was easier, they would fly behind these translucent curtains we have and I could just swat 'em and either wipe the window down afterwards or throw the curtains in the wash. This year like I said a lot of them are just chilling underneath the lip of the skylight so I can't really reach them. It's kind of creepy, like I don't know if they're dead up there or just sleeping or what but they're not moving.

I felt kind of bad for one, I swatted it and it was twitching for a couple of minutes.

Junebugs? When I was little, we used to get a plague of them every year, now I barely ever see one.

One year a dinner guest brought flowers to an event my parents were hosting. Unbeknownst to us, a fly laid its eggs somewhere on the damn thing. I was racking up about 4 kills a minute when they hatched. Talk about disgusting.

I don't think so? Based on limited Google time they might be carpet beetles? We do have June bugs up here though. So it could be.

We are literally going to tape syran wrap underneath the skylight so the flies can't fly down and hopefully that helps solve a lot of things.

Ok just read that it's spelled Saran wrap. Whatever, anyway we went with a thicker plastic sheet that had better coverage and was less hassle. Ugly as sin and I don't even think that's where the flies are coming from but there was a good couple dozen up there so if they are coming from there they can maybe fly away and if they aren't they can go ahead and die.

yeah I got flies in my apartment once, my friend called me and said there was maggots all over the place and I was like wtf no way. so I went home and there were maggots all over the place. I went in my room and the window was covered in flies. turns out the dumpster was right below my 3rd floor window and they got in through a crack and laid eggs. so I had to vacuum the entire place, sprayed raid all over my window and then sprayed the whole rest of the can in the dumpster. had no more flies after that.

This sounds scary as eff. About the dumpster.

It was weird we had left a bag of trash by the front door one night and took it out the next morning and my wife saw maggots on the floor but I mean do flies grow that big so quickly???

Also check this shit out LOL I am so tempted to buy it https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01FG4ZYF0

I am actually shocked we haven't had ants in the house, what with a basement and fairly open doors with ridiculous gaps underneath them.

I mean we had ants in a fourth floor apartment :\

I have a bug zapper in my apartment. It works great.

I didn't see an indoor version of that, and would it work on regular flies? I've seen UV light ones that are for mosquitoes and gnats.

Yeah, it works on flies, too. Flies, gnats, mosquitoes, fruit flies, crane flies etc. all get caught in it.

Have a link?

Speaking of crane flies I haven't seen those yet this year. Last year my cat would run out and snatch one up and race it inside >_>

It's one just like that... Maybe not the exact kind I have, but the form factor is pretty much the same.
