And you gotta look at the type of person in line. Old woman? probably gonna pull out her checkbook and a bunch of coupons. Scummy looking dude buying beer? Probably gonna ask for the checker to go get cigarettes. These things cause delays. And look at the checker too. Are they depressed and lethargic looking? Are they scanning items quickly? Some are waaay faster than others. So go find the energetic and positive ones. Back when I worked as a cashier I was a combo of both. I scanned items fast but not because I was happy and positive, but because I wanted people to GTFO as soon as possible.
