There's plenty to deal with and even one or two Batman villains to potentially cross paths with. Like, Ra's Al Ghul is about a thousand years old or so. In this continuity, maybe Alfred is familiar with him and has crossed paths with him. That said, I hope they don't make every villain the Joker's father, Ivy's grandmother, etc. But if they do, it's not a series I was going to watch anyway. I feel that if a character can get by without fighting, they don't need to be an action character. Alfred's role isn't a sidekick or an equal in combat. It's a friend and a mentor. He doesn't need fighting skills for that. If I made a Batman movie, he'd probably just be a highly intelligent and sophisticated individual; not a veteran or a badass. He helps batman with his equipment, computers, investigations, and medical needs on a regular basis. Him having the background he does now in this show would from military, to CIA/FBI, bodyguard and espionage would literally explain all of this.
