If you want a shopping cart at Aldi, you have to stick a quarter into the lock to release the cart. You get the quarter back when you return the cart.

By not having to pay employees to round up carts, they can offer lower prices.

ehh, I would rather pay extra for my stuff and have the convenience of free carts. Main reason I don't shop at Aldi's though is the quality is horrible. That is the real reason it is so cheap.

I used to eat it all the time as a kid and my parents always wondered why I got sick just about every meal. Now that I haven't touched their stuff in over 12 years I don't get sick from food hardly at all.

I was going to say, carts require $1 here. It's dumb, but it actually seems to prevent them from being stolen by junkies. Also since I never have cash on me, I always opt to use the hand basket instead. Major grocery trips become arm workouts.

Yes, but our Aldis do not have lower prices compared to the competitors (Market Basket).
In areas of New England with a Market Basket it's basically impossible to compete with them because they are an actual pro-consumer and pro-worker corporation.

We do that anyway over here only it's a pound coin. I tend to just buy a pound like token and keep using that. Though it's been a long time since I've needed a trolley.

I dont even know what Aldi is but carts managed by coin returns are not restricted to stores. Theyre also common at train stations and airports as baggage trolleys, which Im sure you would know if you had watched the video you cut out of my quote.

People dont bring them back. Its a fact. Other people collect them just to get the quarters. Most places dont even use the quarter system anymore and just hire out someone to collect them, which also occurred in the movie, or just remove the carts outright.

If you mean that we just return it to the return carts here areas in the parking lot, then absolutely. People who dont do that already are lazy assholes.

The Home Depot that I used to work at lost about 75% of the 300 carts they recieved in a period of less than 6 months. Mostly due to one of their special needs employees being a lazy dipshit and not locking them up properly at night so the homeless shit bags were able to steal them easily.

In most cases any cart return will refund your deposit. People will still be lazy as fuck and leave the carts sitting in a parking spot rather than return it for their quarter back.

This is super common here and it's not a big deal. You get the money back afterwards, so it's not like it costs you anything, unless you're an asshole who refuses to return the cart when you're done.

Their mom was probably poisoning them and that's why they were getting sick. They rarely get sick now, not because they no longer eat food from Aldi's, but because their mother no longer prepares their food.

I like it. I always put my carts in the cart areas or return them but I don't mind the chained ones.

As for Aldi, I liked the place, but their produce is iffy sometimes. Gotta be very selective. I could usually get some fruit, but lettuce or veggies was a no go. Had to go somewhere else.
