Jason Statham and the Rock are fighting a genetically enhanced super SOLDIER.
What. I thought this franchise was about racing cars and committing car themed heists, and occasionally some sort of silly stunt with cars dangling from helicopters. I havent watched one since the the first or maybe second one but I think this is a spin off one time story thing not like a part of the main series but I really dont know.

yea this is a spin off. I have seen up to the 5th movie. but I understand that this new movie is not a "real" fast and furious. it's a side story set in the same world.

The series went from being relatively grounded to more and more over the top wacky with each release following Tokyo Drift.

At it's core it was supposed to be about the world of illegal street racing. That was the shows entire premise. The second one added in this big time drug lord dude, but still hung on to that premise. TD was the same way. Then after that races started to decline, it started becoming these spy action movies where the races lost relevance and started including car to helicopter missiles, car jumping to a tank, car sky diving and shit. --- Strider is something of a god of equine necro-brutality--Master ZED ...
