Why is this?

Don't churches do, you know, one service on Sundays?

I don't know any churches that do just one service. Most do at least 9am 11am and an evening one.

Sunday school, the regular service, and an afternoon/evening service.

3:30 is a pretty strange time to me, though. I would expect it to be more toward 6 or 7 pm

Strange. The church I grew up in, only did one service a Sunday, i.e. about 10.30 - 12.00. It might have been the exception rather than the rule. Of course, it's entirely possible that because I live in Britain, where people are often atheists, one service a Sunday is common. Who knows?

Depends on how small your town is. Churches in more populated areas or even just popular churches have two or three services.

Along with the times you listed... many churches, at least where I'm from, do a mid-week session on Wednesday evenings.

Do you have any movie theaters that just do a single showing of a movie a day?

Sounds like a Baptist church. Those people (especially the old people) go literally all day.

A lot of times its because there is not enough room to fit all the congregates in for one service. Rather than move to a larger building or building an addition to their current building, they offer multiple services so everyone can attend.

I mean, Sunday school at 9:30, church at 10:30, and we used to have an evening service, but stopped.
Mostly concerned about all the elderly driving after it got dark.

You know, I've heard others say they heard that about us, but like...I have only been to my church, so maybe others do.
It's like 2 hours for us, and Wednesday evening 1 hour.
