i have played like... an hour of CT yet somehow I know all its story beats just by hanging out here and watching videos about games, not even CT specifically

Chrono Trigger hasn't really been relevant in years, so I can see how younger players might not have played it.

Magus being playable is a big reveal considering how much buildup there is to him being the main bad guy in the first half of the game.

Do you guys that don't know CT's plot know the general plot to any FF games you haven't played? just curious

i know most of them although somehow I still have no idea what XII's plot is

I barely remember XII's plot and I actually played that one!

I know vague plot points about the FF games I haven't played but the extent of my knowledge on each is probably pretty similar to my CT post.

2 - nothing

3 - nothing

4 - there's a ship called Enterprise?

5 - nothing

8 - Squall is a character. His sword is a gun. Blanking on the main antagonist. If I've heard it I don't remember. Actually I can't name another character in the game beyond Squall.

9 - Zidane, Vivi, Reinhart(?), uh..a princess. There's a play at the beginning. Don't know who the antagonist is or anything else about the story.

10-2 - uh, Yuna is the main character right? That's it.

12 - nothing

13 - lightning

(There's a sequel right?)

15 - nothing

That's the extent of what I know.

I did a blind FFX playthrough topic a couple years ago and that went over super well. Maybe it's time to do X-2

oh man I now understand how you know nothing about CT, I can't imagine chilling on this board for so long and not knowing anything about several FF games. I know most of the plot to VI at this point despite literally never even watching a video of it

V: galuf and exdeath
VI: kefka, world of balance and world of ruin or whatever, the play, lots of characters and some nonlinearity
VII: sephiroth, hair pin sighs, jenova is like a space virus or something, random nonsense like crossdressing cloud
VIII: ORPHANAGE
IX: I think it's like a heist?
XI: MMO hell
XIII: time travel is dumb
XIV: world got destroyed or invaded or something for the reboot, MMO hell
XV: boyband roadtrip, I think one of them is probably a prince trying to usurp corrupt royalty?

I: Defeat the bad man
II: Defeat the bad man
III: Change jobs and defeat the bad man.
IV: Stop the bad man on the moon. Main character job change identity crisis
V: galuf and exdeath in another world. Also, JOBS. Boko the wonder chicken
VI: kefka, world of balance and world of ruin or whatever, the play, lots of characters and some nonlinearity

Randomly watched the Solomon's Key run. Actually pretty good.

Oh yeah, reminder to check out ESA too. It's been happening (and still is) this week and has been very good

They have a yakuza run right now, and there's a wild racing game block coming up on stream 2 soon with stuff like Sonic R, Touhou Skydrift and a Densha de D game

Also a coop cuphead race on the main one later after the unreasonably long ff7 run

Actually most of the runs tomorrow are races

this article is quite crappy (i guess that's to be expected because lol kotaku). his reasoning for including coolkid's super mario bros. 2 run (which WAS very good) is literally "wooow it's amazing that someone can beat the game so fast." uh yeah, welcome to speedrunning? >_>
