I've done all the single player stuff. Some of the missions in the last set were actually really cool (one you face a Wesker that starts with 3 zombies out, and another you face a dragon that has an aggro deck and you're at 7 HP and he's at 99 and you need to survive (I actually killed him outright-- was a bit easier)) and I wish there were more of them.

Still haven't actually played any people. I think I get the game enough to do it at this point and think my Dante resonate deck is okay, just haven't bothered yet.

Ive played 5 online matches, the first one against a Morrigan I won.

The next 4 have been against Ryus, and Ive lost every time.

His simple damage deck seems the most effective, Ive tried Morrigans Halting deck, awful, Nergigantes everything costs life deck, awful, Xs lifegain deck is ok, but cant do much against flyers.

I've played about 50 online matches with my chun deck. It's a lot of fun playing people who have ridiculous combinations.

I think Wesker decks are the scariest to face, followed by Morrigan.

Yeah I'm kinda tearing up ranked on the lower levels

Currently 5-0 and none of the matches have been remotely close. All red decks so far.

If you want a good "training" for ranked without actually doing ranked, fight Practice Chun Li with the Yawn special imo. She's much stronger than F tier ranked decks.

Though I will say I'm pretty sure my deck is just strong against red ones, so maybe once people start playing other colors it might actually be tougher

Like I play Dante, they try to throw a fireball at him or a small buff on their monster to finish him, I just play any action and he gets +1/+1 and survives. Lots of wasted cards on their end. 7 cost Hsien-Ko and Epic Ibuki are awesome for this too.

Lucking into Legendary Morrigan and crafting Legendary Dante with the achievement souls you get probably helps too I guess. Although Morrigan isn't actually very good in this deck. Might take her out if I draw some more Ibukis.

I'm hoping if the game does alright they add a bit more support for hybrid decks. I think how it's implemented now is questionable. I want to try purple + black but too many cards I wanna use cost 6.

I actually got the $5 gem pack and the season pass. Seems like if you do all the season pass missions you can perpetually get season passes going forward because there are more gems in the season pass missions than it costs, and the $5 pack gives you enough to purchase the first one, so eh. I enjoy the game enough to give it $5 as being hopeful it does well.

i think hybrid decks should be limited to something like 5mp cards, but the player mp itself should be kept at 10mp

I'm not even sure an absolute cost limitation is needed at all. Like the cards are fairly balanced as is-- I don't feel the cards that cost 7 are prohibitively strong to be put into two color decks, you know? Just seems to stifle options.

I'd prefer something like slowed charge rate after 5 MP or 3 MP (for 3 color) or something, myself

Or at least some sorta cards/hero techs to help with 2 color decks. Like a way to get more max MP passively.

I think yawn probably gets nerfed if they ever do nerfs. It's so powerful and because abilities don't use the stack there's very limited counterplay to it.

I think so but I have no Irises and it's hard to tell if there's a difference in increments of 20. I have had 3 cats out before and thought it was better than 1 cat but yeah who knows

Currently running a deck using three different colors which means no cards above Level 3 - gimmick is that it has a lot of units with Resonance, so I just keep spamming cards to buff my units. Working decently so far.

I know the mechanics are completely different so something like control warrior is a little harder to replicate but what do you guys think?

Ive been playing a Ryu deck focused on units that do non-combat damage with Leons to boost them. Its going well so far but im still at the low ranks.
I opened the legendary Rathalos action card early on so I figured I should focus on red. Now that my collection is a little more diverse I might try making a second deck.

Red is aggro
Green is about maintaining fatties mostly
Purple is control based
Black is suicidal with some control elements

I don't know about specific decks since I haven't played hearthstone in forever but I'd say as far as classes go you're looking at this as the closest idea

red -> hunter/mage (lots of burn so you can play it a bit more controlly if you want to)
green -> druid
purple -> rogue
black -> warlock

No idea where warrior/control warrior fit. If you tell me what the deck in Hearthstone typically does I could take a guess but yeah.

I guess green and purple both have elements of priest in them too. Not sure where shaman goes really.

I was looking through all the cards in the game and the characters represented and ive developed a hot theory based on the characters without cards:

The next group of characters (maybe added in season 2?) will bring us to 2 from each franchise with:

Red: Nero
Green: Jill
Purple: Sigma
Black: Demitri

assuming Nero makes sense as a red character, (I havent actually played any game hes in). These characters conspicuously have 0 cards, not even shitty basic set cards like Zero and Vergil have.

keep this topic alive for two months so I look like a genius when this turns out to be right

I think you gotta go with Ebony + Ivory as your hero art though which limits his deck construction options a bit. Quicksilver is too expensive for what it does and Devil Trigger is worthless.

I think the black dragon is the worst character.

I also think Morrigan is a bit OP which makes Dante seem iffy. Any purple deck that doesn't use resonate you're better off using her cause Shadow Blade is so strong. X has a similar problem vs Chun Li + Yawn I think, without his niche Dante has. (The charged shot thing is his gimmicky art but it isn't very good. The other two are just worse than Yawn)

Red dragon seems bad too but maybe I'm just assuming that cause I'm chewing up too many fodders.

20-2 now. For all my mockery of the red dragon the second game I lost was the same gimmick of mad buffs on the 1/8 + bad draw. Still way positive on this strategy, and it being the only strategy I've lost to isn't too weird when I've faced it like 14 times but yeah.

Seems like when you go into D rank the red dragons start to be replaced by Ryus. Makes sense because I think Ryu is a better deck overall but

Trying to face down the 1/8 or 3/6 flying units is actually a good way to lose that match easily. The smart way is to just rush down the other two slots if your deck is fast enough but I imagine a lot of bad players don't do that, so you've probably got a cycle of new players playing against the deck wrong, using the deck themselves, then beating people who don't know how to play it to advance slightly, so you have a logjam of Rathalos in the low tiers.

He also just seems like an effective deck against Green because green is kinda slow in general.

Green seems...underwhelming? Maybe it's because my deck's main strategy is resonated flying units and the Greens' big health pools don't matter against that.

Only Legendary I've gotten so far that I'm using is Devil Trigger, but man is it extremely good. If I can DT on a unit that's even somewhat buffed I've basically won the game already.

Yeah. I think green seems kinda weak if you just don't fight it. It does have the gimmick units that fill multiple rows though, so that helps it.

I think that's kinda the main trick to this game, knowing when to not put your unit in the same row as theirs. If you don't challenge green directly the health pools don't matter and they have below average damage for their costs.

Ryu and to a lesser extent Nergigante are the only characters my flier deck struggles with. They can just straight-up kill my buffed guys, even when I've boosted their health. It's a race to deplete their HP before they've systematically erased all my good units.

Haven't seen the red dragon since D3. Looks like mid Ds are when deck diversity starts hitting. Finally saw every character with a fellow Dante being last.

Went 41-9 in my first 50 with Dante. Mid C-3 right now.

C ranks I am actually losing once in a while. Also I underestimated black dragon his damaging spikes thing is really good with enough life sacrifice in the deck.

Also realized man lag is the worst in this game. Definitely lost one game due to lag cause I tried playing an action and couldn't and was slain cause couldn't resonate.

Now 70-30 in first 100. Once I hit B ranks I stopped winning the strong majority.

Stuck in B-5 p much my win rate is around 50% here. Now the fact that Morrigan is just better than Dante is really starting to show. Finding a lot of decks similar to mine but they use Morrigan and all of her arts are better than Ebony + Ivory even in a resonate deck. Realistically if you can keep a resonate unit on the field long enough to exploit Ebony and Ivory you can win even without double. Although I did have a funny win where I beat a Morrigan who was at 27 life and with a 28 power Hsien Ko (she stalled her with halt for a year) in one shot when I was at 1 life so sometimes it matters I guess.

I wonder if Quicksilver actually is viable. It's just so expensive.

Yeah. Ryu is the one matchup where the double resonate actually matters since you need to outpace his bazillion direct damage to keep your units alive. Overall Dante probably has trouble with Ryu too though if you're not running E + I.

But even if you are it can be difficult. The units and hero arts not being able to be responded to makes it hard sometimes.

Toughest deck for me tends to be the black dragon, which is funny because I was making fun of him earlier. They rush with a bunch of life loss creatures and then kill what little units I have with his spikes special.

Morrigan is probably about 50-50 despite complaining about it. If they have the destroy units with halt special I tend to autolose if they're running a similar deck to mine, and the other two specials as said are also better (I think Shadow Blade is her best overall but not as good against my deck in particular)
