I promise you if they didnt have goverment benefits, housing and the high chance of winning full custody to fall back on the divorce rate would be much lower. Sad thing is that unless theres a good reason it's a pretty selfish thing to do. As the only one who benefits the vast majority of the time is the woman. Their husbands come home and plop on the couch while they do the cooking, cleaning etc. The husbands wont do chores on their own without their wife specifically telling them what to do and when. Its exhausting. Then the husbands quit the compliments, date nights, anniversaries, hand holding, etc. Men tend to be more simple and just want sex to be happy. Women want more of an emotional connection. Of course there are plenty of examples where women give up too. And their husbands will stay because they tend to lose more in the divorce.
