incentivizing losers winning is bizarro world and it is one of the few really bad constitutional precedents. the entire point of the electoral college was to avoid the populace electing a horrible person or tyrant and that has utterly failed. both of the presidents in recent times that have lost the popular vote and won the ec have done it mired in controversy and both have been the two worst presidents in a generation.

there is no valid defense of the ec. land doesnt vote and arguing that people in wyoming or idaho should get twice the say of people in california is the epitome of ignorance. one vote should equal one vote and each person should have the same amount of say as the next

and the idea that 'one or two cities will decide the election' is pure bullshit anyway. congress and senate exist to represent the needs of each individual state, the presidency should be a reflection of the will of the people as a whole. if a party cant get more votes than their opponent they deserve to lose

There absolutely would be hypocrites. That said, I've always thought the EC was bull****, and I'd still say that even if Democrats benefitted, instead. It's just like gerrymandering, gerrymandering is horrible, even when Democrats do it.
