The entire main game being new Pokemon was a huge breath of fresh air, especially compared to something like the 2nd gen games where most of the cool new Pokemon were hidden away behind low encounter rates or super late areas. In reality, theyre all good and the series has and is growing at a steady rate. Id say most people who grew up with gen 1 here started to fall out around gen 5/6 due to becoming adults. I just don't really care for it. I love Gen 3 and can always go back and replay Emerald. I like Gen 4 well enough that I'd replay it. Besides the originals, the Johto games, and Black/White, are the only ones that felt like any passion or ambition went into making them. The music and shit was a huge step up from R/S/E Gen 4 definitely got the most hours out of me I did play through gen 5 but I didnt care for anything after that.
