I still prefer it to laptop and smartphone since it doesn't overheat and doesn't need to be charged every hour or so, though some things such as Instagram are much easier to browse on the phone.

But it is quite old though, I believe we got it in late 2011.

I've only had a laptop for over a decade now. My first laptop was a hefty and sturdy Toshiba Satellite with Windows Vista which served me well enough for at least 6 years, then I upgraded.

I prefer the separate keyboard from monitor. Also, the overheating as I mentioned.

Also the laptop batteries die or lose most of their power after a while. My laptop battery could be 100%, after browsing for 10 minutes it goes down to 30%. And I just got my laptop in 2014.

If you're going to get a laptop that you will only use at a desk and attach a mouse to it, you might as well just use a desktop.

I've got like a ten year old one in the corner of our home gym room - still good enough to put Netflix/YouTube/whatever on while having a workout but that's the only use it gets!

I still have one but don't use it anymore, it's an old Dell from 2004

I just use my laptop or phone now

I have a 2009 MacBook Pro that's on death's door, and then my tablet and phone. When the MacBook dies, it won't be replaced as my tablet and phone fill my computing needs.

In fact, I'll probably just buy a Bluetooth mouse and pair it to the tablet. Its already got a keyboard.

They'll remain the primary platform for PC gaming and for specialist industries like music production and graphic design, but the average person really no longer needs a large box and monitor taking up part of a room in todays world of smartphones, tablets and laptops. They're just not necessary.

It's been like 8 years since our desktop died. Never bothered replacing it. I have a laptop I use as a desktop basically which does everything I need although it's kind of old, 2014. I use my phone for most of my computing needs. The only kind of desktops I see anymore are the integrated screens, so there's no box that attaches to the monitor it's all in the screen and it has a keyboard, but yeah desktops have been on the way out for awhile. A laptop/tablet can do pretty much everything a desktop can without taking up as much room so there's virtually no point in having a desktop now a days from a consumer stand point.
