I agree with all those things but I feel bad for smokers too since I understand addiction. It's just too bad they had to pick an addiction that's a disturbance to most of society. However if smoking comes along with an arrogant attitude then fuck you and die from lung cancer.

Drunk driving kills a lot of people and a lot of them are innocent bystanders. Should we take the same stance against drinking and enact prohibition again? No, that won't work. Let adults make their own decisions.

Maybe one day smoking will be phased out in favor of better alternatives like vaping, nicotine pouches, and other alternatives, but you can't expect massive change so quickly. Until then, you don't have to smoke and that hurts the tobacco companies a little. But also don't demonize smokers. There are worse things to be.

I quit smoking 8 months ago. I have resolved that I will probably start smoking again if I'm elderly and without kids.

It's actually a pretty damn enjoyable habit outside of the smell and health effects. Would totally keep smoking if I didn't have anything to live for.

Bad news. The freedom to choose is king. As time passes and freedom becomes more important the right of choice is going to butcher the human body far worse than some smoke. The human condition will beg to be torn apart from free will.
