Prominent esports commentator and retired StarCraft pro Geoff "iNcontroL" Robinson died on Saturday, according to posts made on his Twitter account and Facebook page. He was 33.

The specific cause of death was not released. In the posts, it was noted that he died of a sudden illness. Robinson last livestreamed on Twitch on Thursday.

"With immense grief, we announce Geoff's unexpected passing due to sudden illness Saturday," the post on Robinson's Facebook reads. "We ask privacy as his family works to understand what happened and make arrangements.

"Geoff is deeply loved across many communities and we're all working to make sure his affairs are in order as he'd want."

Following his death, Robinson's ex-wife Anna Prosser wrote a post on her Instagram expressing grief over Robinson's death. The two separated in October of 2018 after being married for nearly six years.

"Nothing I could post would properly express my grief and shock," Prosser wrote. "For now I just want to say: Geoff was & always will be a beacon of love, laughter and leadership. He exemplified what it was to be a good man. A world without him is wanting, but profoundly blessed to have had him."

Robinson first began competing in StarCraft: Brood War and eventually transitioned into StarCraft II like many of his peers. He became a top North American professional player and later the captain of team Evil Geniuses's StarCraft team.

Following his retirement from competition, Robsinon became a well-known and respected commentator, analyst and talk show host. He hosted various different online talk shows and would frequently livestream on Twitch. He was a staple of commentary and analysis at major StarCraft events.

I mostly know him as the former husband of Anna Prosser, because I watch her in various D&D stuff.

This is one of those cases where I'm super-curious about all sorts of details about this situation, but also accept that it's really none of my business (or anyone's business), so we should probably all just move on with our lives.

That was mostly my thought (and wondering why they hooked up in the first place kind of goes hand-in-hand with wondering why they eventually got divorced).

But apparently he just had mad game back when she was mostly a nobody who was doing eSports interviews, so maybe he was just super-charming and awesome and she was into that.
