The Justice Department wrote a letter to Robert Mueller on Monday about his upcoming congressional hearing, telling the former special counsel his testimony must adhere to the 448-page report he issued earlier this year.
The testimony, the letter stated, "must remain within the boundaries of your public report because matters within the scope of your investigation were covered by executive privilege."

That's what he said he was going to do a month or so ago. Also why he didn't want to testify, because people can just read his report.

Except apparently nobody wants to read his report.

The continued fixation by some Democrats on Mueller post-report is very strange to me.

I mean, getting him to read his report for people to see so they dont have to read it themselves seems like a win.

It's clear that the Trump-backed DOJ and the Republican Party in general have been hiding a lot from the American people.

To know the whole truth is simply the Democrats doing their job.

Why do they need him, specifically, to be the one who reads it? Can't they do that?

you should know better than to think Congress actually reads these things. they don't even read their own bills. they have to pass them first to know what's in them!

So? What do you gain by "looking good" in this situation?

Democrats have been trying to "look good" for a long time now and nobody actually seems to care about how official they are, or how they adhere to proper decorum, or how angrily they can slap a podium and say they morally object to something and not push the issue any deeper.

They've spent this entire presidency pointing at Trump doing stupid stuff, or trump doing sketchy stuff, and going "look at this guy, folks. isn't he awful?" and it has not swayed anyone who didn't already know that anyway. Republican voters are not going to suddenly change their tune and switch votes due to a boring testimony from a CIA scarecrow about stuff they have heard and disregarded as liberal propaganda dozens of times at this point. Republican lawmakers are not going to suddenly grow a conscience and say "oh shit, I guess he is corrupt" and move to do something about this.

The Mueller stuff has become a circus that does nothing except give tepid centrists something to distract people with instead of actually approaching issues, and give lunatics another thing to claim their president is being unfairly persecuted over. Time would be better spent elsewhere.
