I had to download Rivatuner Statistics for Max Payne since I not only had to add in the SoundFix and Widescreen manually (since the ones on Steam Workshop didn't work at all), but I also had to cap the framerate at 60 FPS (since it was going anywhere from 600 to 1000 by my own estimates), and messed with the jumping sequence in the second nightmare level, and for some dumb reason, capping framerate isn't in the Nvidia Control Panel.
If I was developing a game, I would put a strict frame limiter by default on all of my games, dependent to that of the refresh rate of the monitor used (which apparently ISN'T the same as forcing V-Sync). I love old games that barely function. Thankfully, almost all games from 2003 onwards have little to no issues. ... Copied to Clipboard!

GTA4 had an issue with one of the final missions where you can't complete it without capping the frames. Weird since everything else works fine up to that point.

I once played a Might and Magic game where everything was on fast forward because the PC I had was much better than what the game was made for. I died a few seconds after starting because monsters found the starting area and attacked it.

Old games tended to tie framerates to CPU speeds, so once faster CPUs came out they ran too fast to be playable. Oddly enough, the "turbo" button that used to come on 286, 386 and 486 computers wasn't to make your CPU faster, but to slow it down so that it functioned more akin to a 8088.
