It's definitely intimidating to start Monogatari. I watched Bakemonogatari not long after it first came out iirc and thought it was decent, but didn't pick it back up until a few weeks ago cause it just seemed like there was so much. I think it was definitely worth my time though, and probably deserves such high placements. Something about it doesn't quite click with me, but I still enjoyed it a hell of a lot and I see why people absolutely swear by it.
