Finished 1 last night and it was pretty good. Very much a product of its (NES) era though so be ready for some backtracking and abstruse puzzles and grinding. I bet it'd work well on a phone though!

I got the first one cause I had google survey bucks.

It's kinda awkward to play. The touchscreen controls are going to take some getting used to-- may just hook up a controller eventually. The combat reminds me of Hydlide which doesn't help. I'm sure there's some technique I'm missing though.

It's not bad despite what 'awkward' and 'like Hydlide' might imply. Like I kinda want to figure out what I'm doing at least?

Pretty far in Ys1 right now. Level capped with 3 books and silver gear

Turns out the depth to the combat is largely in just statting up. Oh well. You can circle around to the sides but I got that the whole time. Just had no armor for a while so it was hard.

Kinda hate the boss design. It's like stall stall stall stall poke stall stall stall stall poke.

Game isn't bad but it feels like it needs more to it. Like there is a lot of depth to the towns for an old game, and the dungeons feel "big" but I think I've almost beaten it now.

Kinda feels like a good idea unrealized. Worth a dollar though. Will probably get 2 as well.

I kinda wish you could have party members, mostly. There was a dumb escort thing with Feena but that doesn't count. What's the point of having all these cute animu girls around if I can't bring em around to help me kill stuff.

Really even though it's simple the mechanics work. I mean it literally is Hydlide but having more freedom of movement changes that from garbage to workable.
