It had plastic overlays that you slotted into the controller for each game so you knew which of the numbered buttons were used and what they did. I remember the fervor people had to get a hold of one for the first few months they came out, this despite the fact that the launch library wasn't that great. Obviously eventually the PS2 would have a great library but that first half a year or so was very rough when looking for good PS2 games.
