Uh...since when the fuck can a cop arrest you for a speeding ticket?

Obviously she escalated the situation quickly but you cant arrest someone for speeding. Reeks of extortion.

Since the beginning of time. A traffic infraction is still technically a crime. You go to court and get s ticket in lieu of arrest. That being said she fled in a vehicle you could articulate felony evading

They explained the situation in more detail when I saw it on Live PD last night but I forget the specifics now.

She initially refused to sign the ticket, failed to follow instructions to exit vehicle, drove off before she was released from the traffic stop, and resisted arrest.

Depends on state laws but if you are driving a specific amount over the limit, you can be arrested on the spot. But it looks like she's being arrested for not signing the ticket.

Fair enough but I cant imagine getting a reckless driving ticket in something that enormous. In BC that charge is usually for foreign students in their Lambos and jackasses like myself jumping through lights.

Must be different in the States but if you refuse to sign a ticket up here the cop has to walk away and meet you at court or hes breaking the law, so this seemed a little excessive even before Gladys went off.

It wasn't a speeding ticket, she had a defective taillight and said no to the $80 ticket, then she drove away so that's resisting arrest, and she kicked the officer in the nuts when she was lying on the ground.

Driving away is grounds for arrest.

Also she was given a ticket for the same things six months before the arrest took place

Makes way more sense. Thought the cop was just trying to arrest her for a citation which is ridiculous, but the taillight story makes more sense.

Guess whatever State this is you cant refuse the ticket regardless, which is also stupid, but maybe Im just spoiled by our lax legal system up here.

police man gets an A for trying. she wouldn't comply and i saw it as reasonable to use the taser.

Oh yeah for sure, but it would have been so much easier if they implemented more grappling into their initial training
