Don't spend more than 1 day a month of free time battling, game is easy AF unless you fuck up monumentally.

Also Google all the lost items and gifts there are entirely too many to know which is ideal for who outside of your own house. It's also the easiest way to eventually recruit people from other houses. They have their own requirements to join, but those requirements get lower the more they like you. So give them gifts and shit to make them like you and they'll likely join you on their own.

I usually I just go between Battling and Exploration. Seminars are kind of a waste of time imo and aren't as good and just exploring and getting other teachers to train you. Rest is also a waste of time since all it does is raise everyone's motivation and add 5 durability to your ultimate weapon, which is a literal joke.

I always spend the first day off exploring the campus and doing sidequests and the rest of the month battling with maybe the occasional exploration again if something interesting is happening on a random weekend.

i chose black eagles but honestly all 3 seem like they are interesting. i just recently started part 2 an am like 32 hours in but am immensely enjoying it so far.

i think dimitri seems really interesting too and will probably play with his house on my 2nd playthrough but i really like black eagles because they have the most magic users to start and tbh magic users are kinda op in the beginning of this game because they respawn spells and you dont have to buy or find new spell books.

honestly i feel like the story is probably good no matter what house you choose and the gameplay is immensely entertaining and more in depth than any previous fire emblem game (and i am a huge fan of the series in general). there are a lot or fun and useful side things you can do like fishing/gardening/cooking/ect that raise stats of your party members while also granting you useful items

You can recruit most other students from other houses. The only exceptions are the Lords and Dedue and Hubert.

I wouldn't get too fixated on trying to recruit everyone, it's possible but takes quite a bit of effort and planning. Instead focus on a few people you might want and just try to get them. You can raise your stats to recruit them but that doesn't always make for an optimal Byleth. It's easier to just get them to B support where they will automatically recruit.

Don't worry about mastering the starting and basic class lines. Just reclass as soon as you can. Intermediate classes is where some of the skills are worth it. Even if you don't reclass, take the certifications ASAP as they can give you permanent stat boosts.

Balance between free days and battles. I typically battle once a month, and explore the rest, but you can easily make that 2 battles, 2 explorations if you want. Do not rest. Do not do seminars.

When you explore for the first time in a given month, make sure you look everywhere and talk to everyone. There are plenty of free support points to get.

Dining with students is a great way to raise support points, motivation and professor rank. Choir Practice raises support, professor rank, and faith (light magic) skill. Tournaments seriously raise professor rank and also net you items and prize money.

Always plant plants every time you explore. Those are just free professor points. Flowers can be given as gifts.

Fishing is another good way to increase professor rank. So it is encouraged. I recommend saving your bait for special fishing weekends though.

Don't get too worried about screwing up. The game is pretty easy so as long as you aren't trying to make your obvious frail mage a barbarian, you'll be alright. You can see what a unit is good in and most often those won't lead you astray if you just follow them.

You can only have one dancer. The dance contest is later in the year. I would recommend not choosing your Lord. And if you choose Edelgard's route, I recommend not choosing Flayn.

Oh one last thing: They brought back FE9 Canto, so Mounted Emblem is back baby.

Don't pick Normal, it's far too easy. I'd also recommend Classic for a better experience, but that's up to you.
As mentioned, be sure to plant flowers whenever you choose to explore, free professor rank, gifts and sometimes even stat boosters.

Yeah, I've noticed that generally speaking the week before a mission, you're not able to instruct your students on the Monday like usual so I use that weekend to deal with any battle quests or paralogues I have. I think I did miss two sidequests (not paralogues) with this method but they weren't a big deal, zero story and only minor rewards.

Classic - If you lose a unit they are dead forever
Casual - If you lose a unit, you get them back at the end of the chapter.

Yeah, this. Casual is... well, I think it goes against the spirit of Fire Emblem. You can just suicide your units without thinking, and it doesn't even matter.

Having permadeath may seem daunting, but this game has a rewind feature (a limited amount of uses per battle) so you can still mess up or get unlucky a few times without getting fucked (unless it's a main character), but you still have to strategize to keep everyone alive.

I'd recommend going Normal/Classic at the very least.

Why not choose Byleth first? Doesn't your class exp and skills carry over in NG+?

Because Byleth is always going to be one of your premier offensive units. You want Byleth to be attack all of his/her turns because s/he is very good at it. Dancers, do very little to no attacking. So you should probably give the class to a unit that you like but is statistically falling behind, because Dancers don't really care about stats. Bernie is a common Black Eagle choice because she basically has no offense if she misses too many speed level ups and you can easily replace her with Shamir. That actually also applies to Ashe and Ignatz as well, since they are all very similar characters. Ingrid is another common dancer as she can be very prone to becoming offensively impotent. Finally, Flayn makes for a good dancer in 3 of the 4 routes as by the time you get her you've probably already got your dedicated healer and a mage that can also do some healing, so a third one isn't really necessary, but it's nice for a dancer to do in a pinch.

tl;dr Byleth is a very good unit and Dancer is a very good class and making Byleth a dancer waste one of the two.

Also, I don't think you can make Byleth a dancer anyway.
