what i find kind of funny is this whole thing about video games is that the isolated & poorly adjusted kids that are more likely to be mass shooters are probably not playing the realistic & violent games people complain about. Call of Duty, Mortal Kombat, etc are for the normies, the HS dropout with anger issues who's shut up in his room all day isnt playing those, he's speedrunning Sonic 3 for 10 hours straight or calling someone the N word in a league of legends match on his 10th alt account

None of those things added up to be a problem until the late 80s, and many shooters didn't play games let alone violent games. One country does over-prescribe psychotropic drugs like SSRIs and other antidepressants to minors and young adults which have a positive link to greatly increased violent tendencies.

Guns existed in USA far longer than the idea of mass shootings.

Honestly it's easy access to guns plus unparalleled ease of communication with anyone else in the world that adds up to these kind of mass shootings.

That's the answer to the fact that guns have always been around but these shootings weren't as big a problem. Its guns + how easy it is to get radicalized now.

In other words, it's the internet.

But the internet is here to stay, so we're left with the problem of easy gun access.

On the flip-side, theres the catharsis argument. Meaning playing games might help people who would otherwise commit violent acts to not be violent.

it is an issue that kids have such exposure to violent media including games (a societal and parental issue). Biden goes on to say that video games aren't to blame for shootings. So I dunno what's supposed to be so disagreeable here
