Im saying that its fine to account for the specific jobs lost by killing coal etc, but that the government shouldnt make it an open ended commitment that anybody can upgrade to from their current job even if theyre unaffected by the transition to clean energy. Even if that were a good idea (which I dont think it is), it would massively expand the scope of the program and make it harder to pass. Similarly, achieving universal health coverage is a laudable goal, but is unrelated to solving global warming and should be dealt with separately. Combining all of your goals into one piece of legislation makes it much more likely that you can all away with nothing.

The other fact thats very important if one wants actually stop global and warming is that the US only produces something like 15% of all emissions, so any solution is going to require other nations to massively reduce CO2 regardless of the progress that the US makes. This means that pumping a ton of money and other resources into research and sharing that technology with the rest of our be world should be the centerpiece of any serious plan.

Dont get me wrong, Im not saying that we shouldnt be aggressively reducing our own emissions. Im just saying that strategy with the highest likelihood of meeting global reduction goals is to make reducing emissions cheaper and easier for everyone.

and what exactly would this "one huge thing" be? because it ain't "The Great Replacement." the idea's simple enough, one generation being fully replaced in the next on every aspect. not a new concept, not what's pushed. also arguably not even the right Great Replacement since Christchurch's manifesto is called that and neither of those parties agrees with it either. hell, in terms of immigration the two don't align well either: Trump has no problem with corporations becoming stronger, which strengthens the appeal of immigration, which is something El Paso's shooter had major issues with and why he didn't like Republicans.

and no, an Australian who began planning to shoot people in New Zealand for two years has nothing to do with Trump. he was radicalized by a Norwegian who killed 77 people and bitches about not having a PS3 in prison.

while he definitely was an ecofacist, it's not "some stuff about automation." he literally says his dream job will be taken away by it.

what you've got here is a guy who was inspired by another mass murderer. that's the takeaway if you care, that's what you get from the very first sentence. it's painfully clear if you read what he wrote that he's just a copycat shooter. we've got motive on what can drive a man to become a copycat in his stuff - his lack of a future - but he didn't even go through with it the way he wanted. he intended to die but instead just gave himself up. he wants to inspire other people to kill the way he was inspired to kill. that's it. copycat the whole way through.
