i have some free time tonight so i was thinking of catching a late showing. i am a tarantino fan but its like a 3hr movie and some of his movies (inglorious basterds, hateful 8, etc) i think are in the "wait till it gets on dvd" category. been seeing mixed reviews on this movie

it was good, but there wasn't anything about it that was like "theater must see"
that said...i liked the film, i'd see it again in theater if a friend wanted to

i really enjoyed it but put it in the lower tier of his movies. but only because his top tier (PF, RD, IB, KB) is so good.

it's much more of a character focused movie than a plot focused one. the three hours flew by for me, i didn't realize it was that long until it was over.

wasnt a bad movie, it had some fun characters & a few good moments but i thought a lot of it was kind of dull & dragged on

Yes. Its beautiful and deserves to be seen in 35mm if you can help it. It isnt like his other movies, which are largely big budget homages to exploitation and grind house films. This is more similar to something like Mean Streets, where the plot is loosely structured and the characters serve as a focal point to the setting. Youre there to take in the golden age of Hollywood and its hinted demise, paralleled by the waning careers of the main characters and the Manson murders. Hence the homage in the title. But... that isnt his ultimate conclusion. You just have to fucking experience it. Cinematic masterpiece, imo.

I enjoyed it, but it can wait for DVD. I need to see it again because I was expecting it to be more plot driven. I am going as Cliff Booth for Halloween this year, though.

Thank you for an actual thoughtful take on it. Ive mostly seen trite criticisms of the film here on CE. Im excited to see it and will make sure to catch it in theatres now that Ive read your review.
