This is a topic to rate the contest strength of potential newcomers in the current contest environment.

I will pick the characters to rate and discuss for each day from user nominations - whoever the 3 most nominated characters are at that time. If there are more than 3 I will pick randomly. You can nominate any number of characters at any time, but you cannot nominate the same character twice.

All characters who were present in the 2018 Character Battle will NOT be eligible. Otherwise you can nominate any character that has appeared in video games; even comic book characters. This will exclude real-life athletes who have only appeared in long running sports series, however I will accept those who have their own games such as Shaq. I will accept nominations for iconic gaming duos too, if both members of said duo are named in the title of a game (Banjo-Kazooie, Sam & Max Hit the Road, etc).

Each day will have a separate topic, and nominations will carry over. As far as actually rating the character's contest strength; I ask that users rank a characters potential strength with one of the following qualifiers - LAW Fodder, Low Fodder, Mid Fodder, High Fodder, Fodder Line, Low Midcarder, Midcarder, High Midcarder, Near Elite, Elite, LAW Tier (capable of beating Link). I will average all the ratings given to a character to come up with their final ranking. I have included a highlighted entrant from Character Battle X on each tier of the strength rankings below, to provide a baseline for each.

Note that LAW Fodder is meant to be a tier reserved for the weakest possible characters to put into a contest. A character will only be placed there if at least 3/4ths of the voters for that day agree on the LAW Fodder rating, and no ratings above Low Fodder are given. If either of those conditions are not met, the character will not be eligible for the LAW Fodder tier.

Oh crap, missed this last one >_>

Nemesis: Low Fodder. Not a well-remembered RE game, that one, and RE characters not named Leon or Jilly V tend to be Low Midcarders at absolute best (and that might be a stretch). I don't expect he'll beat anyone unless they give RE3 a royal remake like they did RE2, but is there any demand for that?

Illidan: Low Fodder. Unless it's a Tuesday and WoW's servers are down for maintenance, I don't see enough of this site's voters recognizing who he is. He looks kinda cool but I don't think that's going to help him. He's capable of beating Spring Breeze Dancin' of course.

Vivian: Mid Fodder. I never got far in TTYD and sold the game before replaying it at a con and liking it more (whoops), so I dunno her role exactly. But this is a Mario character from a side game. That's enough to get over the first line. However, I don't think she'd fare too well, but would perform a bit better than these other two.

Agree with Mid Fodder for Vivian. However I disagree with low for the other two.

Nemesis I will give High Fodder. Resident Evil 3 may not be as well-loved as RE2 or 4, but Nemesis himself is the primary reason it is remembered. He is pretty popular among RE fans and has been in 2 Marvel vs Capcom games. Also I think some people will probably meme with STAAAAAAAARS topics if Nemesis was in a contest.

Mid Fodder for Illidan. He was one of the main antagonists of Warcraft 3 and definitely has some recognition on Gfaqs. However he has been mostly irrelevant since then apart from a boss appearance in WoW.

Vivian - low fodder. A party member in a Mario PRG that's 15 years old? No way is she anything but low fodder. To put it into perspective, Geno is a character that has a big following and is from a far more popular game and he has looked like utter crap in every single match he has been in. Vivian would be much, much weaker.

I'll also say mid fodder on Nemesis. His name is in the title of his game, and he finished in the top third of the Villains contest x-stats, ahead of Ridley, Liquid Snake, Dr. Robotnik, Master Hand, and even the main villain of the same series, Wesker.

i still see rubber nemesis masks at halloween stores every year despite him not being relevant in the series for a long time, i might go as far to say his design is kinda "iconic," at least in horror circles.
