Don't get me wrong. I've posted on other sites, from time to time. You know the places I'm talking about. But even since I made this account in 2002, this has always been my main "home" on the internet, you know? I won't deny, this board has had better and worse years, but it's been a lot of fun so far. It's certainly changed a lot. Mostly because of the different regulars on it, but also because of the rules, the zeitgeist of the internet in general, the subject matter discussed, the moderation system, and the design of the boards themselves.

15 years though I've only been a semi-regular on this board for maybe 5. I just came back today after swearing off of this board 4 or 5 months ago.

Maybe around 2000? Needed help with some Dreamcast games so I'd roam around those boards. Then a little after that I found the special interest boards and LUE. Had no idea the social boards like CE existed or were that popular until several years later. Don't think I even started lurking CE until 2009.

I was modded for a PG-13 copypasta and then every little thing I posted after that was modded until I was finally purg'd over some dumb thing. It wasn't for long but I just shook my head and found some other sites to main. I came back because I missed you guys, tbqh.

I made my account in 2004. I didn't post on any of the bigger boards way back when but I did like looking at them from time to time. Made a tight-knit group of friends on one of the .hack boards but other than that never really posted in many other places. Nowadays I pop in once in a while to mention how surprised I am that Gamefaqs is still around and to comment on how I still like using these old text walkthroughs and guides whenever I get hopelessly lost in whatever I'm playing at the moment. Sure, it's not as efficient as a wiki or a video but it's habit and I don't really want to stop doing it tbh.

This site's kinda surreal sometimes because some of the posts and posters seem like they came straight out of a time warp from my adolescence. Funny how much things change and how little they change at the same time.

If anything, CE doesn't take things as seriously anymore. I remember the drama from the mid-2000s, and how crazy things got. There were also stuff like karma, user levels, and people desperately trying to become moderators. People used to take CE so seriously. If anything, people view CE as "just" a message board now.

Although my history is mostly with the RP/FF board, which is a sad skeleton of what it once was. And LUE too, which...is also a sad skeleton of what it once was.
