This is a topic to rate the contest strength of potential newcomers in the current contest environment.

I will pick the characters to rate and discuss for each day from user nominations - whoever the 3 most nominated characters are at that time. If there are more than 3 I will pick randomly. You can nominate any number of characters at any time, but you cannot nominate the same character twice.

All characters who were present in the 2018 Character Battle will NOT be eligible. Otherwise you can nominate any character that has appeared in video games; even comic book characters. This will exclude real-life athletes who have only appeared in long running sports series, however I will accept those who have their own games such as Shaq. I will accept nominations for iconic gaming duos too, if there is a compelling reason for both characters to be linked (either co-starring in a game ala Banjo & Kazooie, or always appearing together like Callie & Marie from Splatoon).

Each day will have a separate topic, and nominations will carry over. As far as actually rating the character's contest strength; I ask that users rank a characters potential strength with one of the following qualifiers - LAW Fodder, Low Fodder, Mid Fodder, High Fodder, Fodder Line, Low Midcarder, Midcarder, High Midcarder, Near Elite, Elite, LAW Tier (capable of beating Link). I will average all the ratings given to a character to come up with their final ranking. I have included a highlighted entrant from Character Battle X on each tier of the strength rankings below, to provide a baseline for each.

Note that LAW Fodder is meant to be a tier reserved for the weakest possible characters to put into a contest. A character will only be placed there if at least 3/4ths of the voters for that day agree on the LAW Fodder rating, and no ratings above Low Fodder are given. If either of those conditions are not met, the character will not be eligible for the LAW Fodder tier.

Sabrina is my dad's favorite Pokemon character, so by default high fodder at the least. She isn't relevant past Gen 2 like some of the other OG gym leaders, but she does have boobs.

Majora: As a blind guess, I think he (it?) will retain about two-thirds of his (its?) game's strength, which leaves him (it?) as a Low Midcarder.

Sabrina: I agree with High Fodder.

Fei Fong Wong: He looked like High Fodder in 2013, and I see no compelling reason for that to change.

Majora: Agree with Low Midcarder. He has a game named for him where he's prominently displayed on the cover. On a good day, he's almost as strong as Ganon. On a bad day, not so much. Low Midcarder feels right.

Sabrina: High Fodder sounds right. She has numerous stans all over the Internets, but the kids that show up because they heard about "this contest thing" aren't going to recognize her since she hasn't been relevant in the games or anime in a decade. She could advance in a fourpack format with the right draw, but outright winning a match? No.

Fei: Mid fodder. Getting 20% on Sonic six years ago is pretty intriguing (a Fodder Line performance, imo, given his opponent). While the Xeno- series is still going strong, a lot of people won't remember where it started (largely due to the change in developer) unless Xenogears gets a remaster. I don't think Fei is as capable of winning a match as Shulk, based on recognition - and Shulk is (barely) Fodder Line himself. Fei definitely loses to someone like Sabrina or a Zelda NPC like Malon so I err to the high end of Mid Fodder.

Ok yeah, I actually thought Fei's 2013 result was a fair bit better than that. I'll change my vote to Mid Fodder.

While I agree with your overall vote, I really have to question this logic. ~23% on Sonic directly has never been a Fodder Line result, especially not in 2013 when Sonic failed to double Barret before being rolled over by pre-rally Mewtwo. Also, Xenogears looked fairly solid in 2015, and now that our average age is literally over 30, JRPGFAQs voters not remembering it isn't going to be a significant factor.

Majora - appearance/name alone make it low midcarder, despite having a small presence in Zelda lore and being more of an entity than a character.

Fei - mid fodder, because he hasn't looked good in the past

Sabrina - mid fodder. I maintain that outside of Red/Blue/Oak/Misty/Brock, Pokemon humans will never be worth much
