I can confirm this is definitely DQXI although maybe a bit blurrier because it's Switch

Would you guys say this game is better than XC2? Trails of Cold Steel/Sky? Those are the last 3 big JRPG's I've played and I really enjoyed Sky, liked XC2, and was somewhat enjoying Cold Steel.

Depends on what you come to jrpgs for. DQ is all about exploration and old school turn based battles. It's certainly had more story to it since DQ8, but it's never the reason you play those games and the Hero is always silent. Personally it was my GotY 2018, but I'm biased and have played every DQ game since the first one.

it's much better than xc2 and cold steel

personally I'd assert dqxi is also better than sky, but I can see an argument for sky
