Deluding yourself into pretending to be someone else is probably more interesting than anything Zack has going for him.

Hmmm... did SMFFFC use to run earlier on in the year, or did it skip a year at some point? Trying to make the math work, since Zack and Lightning's games came out earlier in the year so they would've made a summer contest, but then the timing doesn't match up. e.g. FFXIII was out early 2010 but the 13th contest would need to be in 2011 for XXI to be 2019.

Hmmmm I think that works, Serah debuted in XIV and 13-2 came out January 2012. so 13th contest mid 2010 and 14th contest mid 2012 to catch both their games.
Which means Zack's win would've come in the contest after the skipped year. Actually, that would also be the first contest after Zack's appearance after KH:BBS since it came out Sept 2010. Could just be a coincidence but I want to believe... the boost was real! ... Copied to Clipboard!

Again, looking at wiki history, XIII presumably started in late 2010 (the wiki article with full results was created in January 2011) and l-faqs shows XIV started in February 2012.
