I live in northwest indiana which is more like Illinois with less taxes. The southern part of the state makes us all look bad.

I'm not surprised that people have a knee-jerk emotional reaction to finding out that their Super Bowl contending team is losing its QB two weeks before the start of the season through a reporter releasing the information in the middle of a preseason game. Especially when you have the Colts front office consistently downplaying Luck's injuries, so the average Colts casual fan doesn't have a good sense of what was going on behind the scenes. And from your perspective at the game, you see your elite QB down on the sidelines just chatting with the other players like nothing has happened and everything is fine.

Like I think it's ****ty for people today to be going after him, but I'm not going to judge too hard how people finding out the news in real time reacted.

The guy literally just quit 2 weeks before the season. When the team was expected to be a real contender.

They're not my team. But enough with the he's a hero, he did the right thing, you're not him, benefit of the doubt, etc bs on this.
It's a dick move.
You retire in the offseason. End of the season or in the spring/early summer before the new season starts in earnest. Give the team time to figure things out, make some moves to replace and so on. The fans too.
Unless something is truly, grievously wrong with him health wise that requires immediate attention which may be the case.
This "I didn't think of retirement until the last week and a half" on his part is complete horse shit. He was injured again sure, probably wouldn't have played until later this year anyway. But again, you don't give everyone the picture you're coming back and to build around your talent and then spring it on ownership, management, teammates and fans suddenly 2 weeks before the season.

There's ways to do this. This is not one of them.
And yeah. He kinda deserved the boos.

The team knew about this weeks ago. They even reached a settlement 2 weeks ago allowing him to keep his entire prorated bonus. It just came out now.

A similar thing happened here in Australia recently. There was a cheating scandal last year where a cricketer named Sam Smith hid some sandpaper in his hand to alter the texture of the ball, and earlier this week he was playing a game against the same team he'd cheated against. The ball flew up and struck him in the neck, and the UK crowd booed him as he went off the field. He made an effort to get back into the game later on - but by doing that, he worsened his concussion. It's kind of a shit show at the moment.

Keep in mind, a cricket ball to the neck can be fatal. Someone died a few years back - ball shot up and got him in the neck, he went down on the pitch, the news replayed the footage dozens of times before the news came through. A guy died on national television from a cricket ball to the neck. And just this week, a man was booed after suffering a similar injury.
