Human beings in general have always been sensitive.

Those who claim not to feel anything tend to either be lying or mentally busted....

Because social media has allowed their vapid stupidity to be heard.

It's also worse these days because of a whole generation growing up being told they're the most special beautiful snowflakes in the world and whatever upsets them is the problem. Not them being pansies.

That doesn't explain why donald trump is so sensitive (and his supporters just emulate his sensitivity and behavior) because trump's parents were not gen x

I don't think we're particularly more sensitive, just sensitive to different things. Back in the 50s you couldn't show a married couple sleeping in the same bed on TV

Because he is a raging narcissist. They think they can do no wrong but tend to be whiny bitches when things don't go their way.

People used to duel over petty insults. Today, people are actually less sensitive, considering the onslaught of negativity we're all exposed to on the internet that mostly gets brushed off unless you're a murderous psychopath.

Meh... this was going on way before Trump... and as much as I hate to defend the guy, he arguably has bigger balls than any other president we've had when it comes to the things he says/does... it takes a thick skin to pull the kinda shit he has knowing the blow back he'll face. He just looks sensitive when people call him out on it and he doubles down.

Like others in this thread have said, I think the perceived over-sensitivity comes from a combination of over parenting plus the fact that millennials had no 'great battles' to fight, so instead get uptight over things that the former generations would see as nit picky. I won't say things are perfect, but things are going well enough that any complaint these days is seen as whining.

As strict as my grandparents were, one thing they taught me early on is to "suck it up" because people naturally pick and tease others, and "letting them see you sweat" doesn't help matters at all. You gotta learn to give as good as you get. Just my opinion, anyway.

Younger Millenials are the snowflake part of the generation, not the older ones. The oldest Millenial turned 18 a bit over a year and a half before 9/11. A year and a half after that was the start of the war in Iraq. The War on Terror was the 'great battle' the upper half of the Millenials fought.

The oldest Millenials are the children of the younger Baby Boomers. The younger Millenials are the grandchildren of the older Baby Boomers. Things were completely different with how Baby Boomers raised their kids vs how Gen Xers raised theirs.

I mean that is a good point... but on the other side of that coin, it was like, what? 1-2% of our population that fought (or, is currently fighting) in that war? Most of my friends and I disagreed with going into that war and just carried on about our merry lives oblivious to what was going on over there. Only knew what we knew based on the coverage the news provided.

None of us were forced to go over and fight, and none of us were walking around calling each other 'terrorists' over disagreements lol.... in fact.... it was a big joke when something went wrong to laugh and say "welp! I guess the terrorists won!" No offense to you or anyone you may know who fought over there, just giving my perspective.

Again, not saying you're wrong or I'm right... just sussing this out. What're your thoughts?

Seriously believing its by generation? lmao

Its always been that way. Generations just don't exist because there's a gap in relevance. Even the Greeks talked shit about every generation from the one before it to the ones after.

I mean, like 60 years ago, people got butthurt if black people didn't sit in the back of the bus. And we're the snowflakes?

Really though, people being sensitive isn't new. Only thing that's new is what's considered sensitive behavior.
