i prefer complete silence. girlfriend used to have one of those "peaceful" noise boxes where it sounded like you were in the jungle or some shit. i tossed that crap in the garbage and just told her it was broke.

Usually just have the TV on with it set to turn off a hour or two later when I've already dozed off.

Nah, I got a white noise machine and its the best. I cant fall asleep in complete silence when I can hear every little creak or noise from outside

I need static noise, I have an air purifier and a fan going at night. I can't fall asleep to music, television or sound effects. If it's entirely silent every little pop and ding makes me paranoid, or if i'm very close to sleep, it will snap me back awake.
