yes they showed the turn based gameplay back in April and we all assumed it would be a mini-game, but it seems like it might actually be the core style of gameplay

With them having Judge Eyes now to continue the traditional gameplay style of the series, it's a fun way to differentiate it.

also as mentioned in the article Sega made a deal with Yujii Horii and Square Enix to be able to mention Dragon Quest in the game and make the new protagonist a big DQ fan.

From the very beginning, Ichiban's design and personality were supposed to be a complete reversal from Kiryu, but I didn't think the game itself would actually flip from action to RPG along with the lead character. This is some next level stuff and I can't wait to see how it goes.

The reactions to this are pretty wild. The western fanbase seems completely split down the middle and Japanese players just seem straight up angry. They probably knew it would be like this so it's a pretty ballsy move to go through with such a huge change.

Also the western title is Yakuza: Like a Dragon, which I 1000% called. Too bad they didn't pull a Resident Evil 7 and call it Ryu Ga Gotoku: Yakuza in Japan.

well the japanese name of the series Ryu ga Gotoku translates to "Like a Dragon" so they're basically calling it English Name of the Series: Japanese Name of the series like how RE7 was Resident Evil VII: biohazard
