Technically four but I haven't used two of those in several years. I basically have a visa and a MasterCard that I use commonly.

I don't know, like 5. I regularly use just one or two of them and they're paid off in full each cycle.

3. An old bank Visa card I got by co-signing with my mom to build my credit, a Discover card that I got when I wanted something with better benefits afterwards, and an Uber card I just recently got. It has $100 if you spend $500 in the first 90 days. I'm building a new PC, so I figured it would be a good card to get for that purpose. As long as you are paying your balance in full before the grace period there's nothing wrong with having a bunch of cards.

I mostly use it as an automatic payment for my internet just in case I wasn't able to afford it for some reason.

I always pay it off though.

there are nothing but perks when it comes to credit cards assuming you're responsible (i pay off all of mine in full multiple times a week)

who doesn't want perpetual 2~5% discounts on everything they buy

Just two. One being the first one I got when I was 18 and the second I got for the better cash back rewards

8, one's a corporate card I can only use for business expenses and one's the new Apple card that I only got to show off since it's made of titanium. Plus I have debit / ATM cards from both of the banks I have checking accounts at.

Not to mention many other good benefits like price protection, extended warranties, protection against theft and damage on purchases, the ability to return an item even if the seller won't take it, and cell phone protection similar to Applecare.

The main thing I like about them is my money isn't at risk from fraud. If my debit card gets stolen and money is taken out of my account I'm without my money until (or if) the bank gets the issue fixed. If my credit card number is stolen it's the credit card company's money that is at risk. My money is safe while they get things sorted out.

I'm definitely not arguing that fact, most people get lost in it and get in over their heads before they know it.
