They demand the robot steps right foot forward, but in the next shot it's clearly the left foot (and the previous scene, which only lasts about 1/2 second, it's the left shoulder moving first, suggesting a left leg movement) --- "Salt cures Everything!" When I saw this as a kid I was just like "cool, anime, this is something I can watch" and didn't really invest in the story. Now, well, umm... I've often heard that people get existential thoughts about the ending, and, well, probably because I'm nutters I thought of it more about (ENDING) ~~overcoming the self-betrayal of having to compromise your ideals, which Shinji does when he kills Kaworu despite not killing EVA4/Touji),~~ which was an oft repeated theme from many of the characters. --- "Salt cures Everything!" There were so many scenes that I can tell other animes and TV ripped off, and I swear the 9 Eva design was used in Bayonetta. And a lot of the story reminded me of Deep Space 9, for some reason. Probably since the Changlings are capable of selective instrumentality... but also the way aspects of personality talk to the characters is like how the Prophets talk to Sisko.
