Will that help with their mass shootings? Thoughts? The logic seems to be from the lawmakers if more good people have guns they can take down the bad people yet how often is it that we get a story of a gun owner being a good guy and taking down a mass shooter? Usually its the police or the gunman just kills himself.

Most mass shootings occur were the people aren't likely to be able to defend themselves.

Pretty much. And look at the shooting in Ohio. Police were literally right there and killed the guy in 30 seconds and in that time, he did the damage he did.

Good guy with gun takes it out and starts shooting.

Another good guy with gun sees 2 people shooting and takes out gun and starts shooting them.

So from the article:
1) Allowing teachers w/ CC permits to keep their guns in locked vehicles
(Not sure how this would help unless a teacher is outside when shooting starts?)
2) Increasing number of marshalls on school property
(Seems reasonable)
3) Allowing foster parents to keep guns that are properly stored/locked
(Not sure about this one - seems we have lots of stories of kids finding guns, but I'm not sure what specific state laws were supposed to be in effect)
4) Prohibiting landlords from prohibiting tenants from keeping guns on premises
(I didn't realize landlords could do this to start with, seems a bit iffy)
5) Clarifies that citizens w/ CC can carry weapons during disaster/evacuation
(legally makes sense, but we also had incidents of people using guns to threaten other citizens)
6) Clarifies that CC holders can take weapons into places of worship
(I don't think it would have stopped Sutherland, as iirc the guy was shooting from outside the building. Also not sure how individual churches feel about this being forced on them?)

They eventually got found out and started taking hostages and some guy who was shopping tried to be a cowboy and took out his gun to take out the guy, but he didn't know the girlfriend was with the other guy and came up behind him and shot him in the head.

because most dont get reported studies are heavily mixed, but can range anywhere from 50k defensive gun uses per year up to 3million with the cdc study done in the 90's putting them at around 300-500k cases per year (in the mid to late 90's, theres more guns now than then). each study tends to have their own definitions of what defensive gun use actually means so you dont get a consistent number. tho pretty much every study puts them above all gun deaths combined.

Doesn't seem to self defense as much as stopping a robbery at a convenience store? The article (with his own words) even describes how he wasn't sure if he should legally intercede.
