Autotuning hell. Egregori is fine outside that but it's hard to ignore. Also i liked crosscode's setlist enough to get the soundtrack physically on a whim so... Yeah, easy decision. This one's not my favourite in the set but it's still really solid. I'm not sure why but I got a smash/kirby vibe from the title, and that remained after listening too. Good vibes. (I'll likely check the ost out properly later, it arrived got it earlier today and I couldn't till now)

Evil second match, but one I have a clear preference in. RIP's full version is extremely extremely good. Sorry CC, you deserved better.

The rhymes are nice, but repetitive. Goblin's Lair is a fun tune with good atmosphere. Close-ish match, I may have gone the other way in favs i forget oh well

Egregori has such a cool sound that I wasn't expecting (although I guess it's expect the unexpected when it comes to Drakengard music). Challenge 2 sounds like something from Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land.

Man, what a match, seeing both Umineko and Chrono Cross in losers this early. Easy pick though.

Pleasantly surprised by My Rhymes Are Nice! Goblin's Lair sounds like something from Old School RuneScape.

Drakengard 3 - Egregori: 6.5. This isn't particularly enjoyable for me to listen to. Too aggressively harsh and distorted and repetitive. It still gets a 6.5 because I like the "feel" of it, that sensation of having your head crushed in a vice, so I objectively appreciate it.

CrossCode - Challenge 2: 7. Sounds like a 3D Mario bonus stage. Quirky. Love the sound design, different pieces popping up like balloons.

Umineko no Naku Koro ni Chiru - Ricordando il passato: 2. Argh. I absolutely love the short, in-game version of this, but I really dislike the full version. The mixing feels off all throughout. I especially dislike the new segments that appear only in the long version - what was once a short but impactful piece now drags on and on.

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles - Goblin's Lair: 9.5. Hell yeah Crystal Chronicles. I supported this and I was super sad it didn't get in. Goblin's Lair is one of the more memorable to me from the setlist; that kazoo-ish instrument (I know it's not a kazoo but it sounds like one) adds a lot of personality to an already personality-filled song. One of my favorite new discoveries from nominations.

Cerebrawl - My Rhymes Are Nice!: 9.5. This is sick. Holy crap. IIRC this was one of my favorite tracks from the Cerebrawl set. It's so tight. Everything about this is just immaculate.

Why does one of these songs have to lose? This is easily my favorite match so far. Every other match in the contest I've had a clear preference for one of the songs, but here I...I think I might abstain. They're both amazing. (I reserve the right to come back later and vote.)

MATCH 1

Egregori's a big favorite of mine from Drakengard 3's soundtrack (among several other songs) so I'm extremely happy that this made it in because I remember when it was first nominated, it wasn't there. Such a powerful, energetic song right from the beginning! One thing I love about this game's music that's distinct from the other Yoko Taro games is the super banger rock songs that make up many of the boss themes. Among these, Egregori and Raphael are probably the biggest standouts for being absolutely amazing (not that the other ones aren't really good either). With Egregori, I just really love the riffs and vocal melody. The effects put on the vocals are really cool too. This fast-paced drumming is definitely a plus too. Makes me want to play air drums along to it.

Challenge 2's a pretty fun, bouncy song. Kinda feels like something along the lines of what I'd want to hear in a modern Kirby game. Good song, but Egregori's just too good.

MATCH 2

Another day, another Akiko Shikata song to praise! This song's more of the slower, emotional variety than the other Akiko Shikata songs that have popped up in this contest so far, but I love this one all the same! It's gripping enough to draw me into the song while still retaining those qualities, which something like the Method Sublimation song from the previous VGMC struggles a little bit to do. It's hard to resist the urge to scream out "RIPOOOOOOOSA" once the chorus comes on. Saw some people comparing the short version to the long version, so I guess I'll add that I honestly didn't take into consideration which one people might like more when I threw it in there. If I remember correctly, I was just trying to find a good quality upload, so I guess it was kinda chance that the long version happened to be the one I picked. I love both versions, so that's irrelevant to me. I feel like the new parts fit perfectly fine. A fantastic song to be rewarded with for getting through that colossal of a script!

The Dream that Time Dreamed is another nice emotional song! Haven't listened to a whole lot of Chrono Cross' music but this is really good. Definitely one of the better songs from this game that I've heard. 1:26-2:00 is super good! I'd really hate for Chiru to go 0-2, but I can accept it losing to this song because it's a good opponent. Can't say I won't have my moment of sadness though!

MATCH 3

I'm usually not the most excited for marches like this. That really deep tuba is honestly off-putting when paired with the high-pitched flute and the kazoo. It just sticks out like a sore thumb to me. Despite that, I don't think it's bad.

My Rhymes Are Nice is an interesting blend of genres. It's a bit funny to me that this elegant flamenco guitar is being juxtaposed with all the f-bombs in the lyrics. Can't say this is my favorite song with rapping in it, but it's pretty neat! The guitar is neat and it has the jazzy chords that's pretty typical for hip-hop that I like.

I like the beginning of Egregori a lot. It gets real repetitive pretty quick tho. Challenge 2 is more consistent, but never reaches the same heights as Egregori...

Ricordando's pretty solid. Not as good as Time of the Dreamwatch though! Who picked this crappy alternate name for it?

Is that CC song supposed to be a joke? It's terrible. Not a huge fan of the vocals in Rhymes, but the rest of the song is nice.
