I find that claim hard to believe since *somebody* must have thought of this first since Gamefaqs hasn't originated anything.

GameFAQs tries to be like social media websites such as Twitter and Facebook but rather than adding worthwhile features they seem to take the worse features. I fully expect a upvote/downvote system soon.

We should tie it to user level. A Veteran's downvote or upvote only counts for 1, Legends count for 2, Elites 3, Icons 4, Idols 5, Ancients 6, Sages 7, ? Block 8, and the currently unnamed upper-tier group counts for 9.

If nothing else, that would at least give SOME value to users who aren't totally shitposters making dozens of fresh accounts and constantly getting themselves banned. Though granted, it would probably have to be tied to IP or somehow be tied to user-maps to prevent those same shitposters from making 47 new accounts solely to be used to downvote any post they don't like.

Not that I want upvoting/downvoting to ever be a thing here, but we all know they'll probably be adding it eventually (along with hashtags and some sort of post-award system based on paying for bits). So at the very least it would be nice to see some version that almost seems like they put the barest minimum thought into how it would work, and not just the most half-assed possible version they can shit-code in about 20 minutes.

Disagree with user-level affecting number of votes that get tallied since that doesnt dictate ones character. Only that they dont have much better to do than come post O/T ramblings about shoes and song lyrics. And if you read the information on the site, thats exactly what they do - ban your modem and other devices from accessing the site. If people are returning, theyve got a new device and are using data or another modem.
