It would basically be a GTA clone in Gotham City. Seems so obvious.

I would have thought this would have happened before a Joker movie. I remember thinking a TDK Joker open world game would have been cool back in the day.

It could be something more like a Saints Row or GTA tone. I don't think a dark and sinister tone like the movie would work well.

The Joker is has been a horrorshow for decades, now. He hasn't been "camp" since he was calling his crimes 'boners' trading pranks with Batman before even I was born-- unless you count the old TV show.

I was picturing a game where you play as Joker fresh out of Arkham and Gotham has moved on and he needs to rebuild his empire by dealing with the other villains and their gangs who have taken over the city.

You can get wacky weapons like laughing gas grenades and giant revolvers.

Yeah, that'd be a blast.

You steal a car to get across town, Batman swoops down and punches you in the jaw, you're arrested.

You start a mission to rob a bank, Batman swoops in and punches you in the groin, mission failed.

You collect one of the one hundred collectible balaclavas, Batman thinks you're doing something dangerous because you're in a restricted area, he swoops in and punches you in the stomach, you're arrested.

Batman isn't omnipotent. He's just one guy. I think he would only appear during story missions or if you max your wanted level or something.

ps3. it was Arkham Asylum. and it's just a set of side missions. not a full campaign. but you do stealth levels in the asylum. story is Joker got out of his cell. you sneak by guards or take them out.
