I have the opportunity to snag a used treadmill for dramatically below market value. It's 380 pounds. My house is a little old and not necessarily the finest piece of architecture. I'm worried about damaging the floor. How valid is this worry, and how would I know short of risking it?

where are you putting it? carpet? tile can be damaged by that. you also have to think about how realistic it is to move this thing if you ever need to move house.

Are you concerned about if the floor can support the weight?

Sorry yes, this is my concern. Does concentrating that weight (520 lbs plus the jolting of running) on one small area make it a possibility that it won't be able to support it?

If you earnestly think your floor will give out because of this, you need to move ASAP.

You're good, even really old houses can easily hold that weight.

Ah well, you see, the floor is sort of a log cabin style floor held up by 3 4x4s from what I understand.

Are those 4x4s the floor joists or columns in the basement?
