Also the slowdown when entering a new area is annoying and I hope they patch that, and jumping has this slight delay after you land. Other than that what I've seen so far, it's probably the best version of one of the best Zelda games.

I cracked and bought it this morning because Zelda is probably my favorite game series of all time. Yay paying almost $70 for a 26 year old GB game.

Yeah despite the framerate issues, this is probably the best version of this game. And this game is already pretty freakin fantastic. Just did levels 4 and 5. I have like 34 shells or something lol. I'm glad you don't have to stop collecting shells to get each reward now, you just hand in whatever you have and get everything.

I am skipping it. I like more difficult games. And zeldas just arent that challenging anymore.

So you can collect every shell and get several things at once? Reminds of a certain mechanic from OOT.

The damage isn't a problem, I want challenging puzzles. A Zelda game hasn't been a challenge since the water temple in OoT. And even that wasn't that hard. BotW was a joke, I mean the game is only long if you go after all the shrines, which I might add none of them are longer than 5-10 minute solves, and they add "length" to the game by making it an unnecessary large overworld with those bull crap seed mini "challenges" in isolated and stupid places. The only real challenge was to keep a healthy supply of weapons.

I am sure this game is no exception, with overly easy dungeons and puzzles a child can solve in minutes.

It is VERY apparent Nintendo has no plans of making a Zelda game for a real gamer.

The Water Temple wasn't really challenging, either. The Stone Tower Temple in MM gave me trouble, though...

I don't really need Zelda to be overly tough, though. Though, I can't think of many game where the puzzles are super challenging off the top of my head... And I don't think making it hard is what makes is a game for gamers. It might make it a game for you. But not every game for gamers needs to be balls-to-the-walls challenging. It just needs to be fun.

To me, Zelda is like a light interactive adventure that you don't have to do much to progress. I am used to games that take multiple tries to beat a boss, or a few minutes to think of a puzzle. Hell in all honestly, I can't remember the last Zelda game where a boss killed me.

Maybe youre just good. Or have a lot of hearts. I always find as many heart pieces I can between dungeons. But being good doesnt mean a game cant be fun. Especially for others. Ive had games where I blast through, where other gamers I know had a tough time. But they were good at games I had a hard time with. Because people are good at different types on games. So, maybe Zelda is one where you barely have to think. Maybe on a game that takes you time to get through, someone else will just blow through it like its not a problem.

I decided to play this version of Link's Awakening on Hero Mode. It has kicked my ass, I've had 40 game overs.

To be fair about 15 of them were from the Dream Shrine, where I had to be patient to get past the enemies that OHKO you, all because I didn't realize I needed the Pegasus boots first.

When you walk between zones there's a very noticeable drop in framerate. And the platforming sections are just lousy with framerate problems too for whatever reason.

ive got 12 heart pieces and 22 shells to go and im up to the wind fish. dont know if ill 100% this play through though since i already died way earlier. good remake all around

The map has an option that shows you the locations of all the hearts/shells you've obtained.

I never played the original on Game Boy so this will be a new experience. I ordered the UK collectors edition from eBay. Cant wait for it to arrive.
