Regina Denney, the mother of 17 y/o Brian Smith Jr in Indiana who DIED after prolonged use of MARIJUANA says that the drug KILLED her son when doctors said they've seen an increase in ailments associated with it that had more potent strains of the drug!!

Brian died in October 2018 from dehydration as a result of Cannabinoid Hyperemesis Syndrome (CHS) according to an autopsy

He went to a hospital with his mother to complain about severe monitoring and abdominal pain and had been losing weight leading up to his death but continued smoking weed even after he was told that was the root cause

His death was a shock to Regina who said "He said mom i can't breathe. I rolled him over and my son was gone"

CHS is a fairly uncommon illness that comes as a result of chronic and prolonged use of cannabis as it includes extreme vomiting, nausea, stomach pain and death

She said his kidneys were shutting down and his bilirubin was high as she felt like she was watching him die.

Regina said "You don't hear about this because it can cause vomiting, it can cause dehydration, it can cause death. They are treating marijuana as if it is is safe when there are serious side effects that cause this"

Brian started smoking weed at 13 and her concerns regarding the drug was not as major since she knew his friends were doing meth and heroin but her son only used marijuana

Regina said he used it to cope with his depression after he DROPPED OUT in NINTH GRADE and was working at a tree trimming business full time to pay for his habit

She said "I thought, OK, if that's all he's doing, smoking marijuana, pick and choose your battles. If his is the worst thing he's doing, i'm OK. He's not in any trouble legally. He's not playing with guns, robbing people and stealing things. He's supporting his own habit. I thought, OK, this is what it is"

Doctors in Colorado and California where weed is legal have been seeing an increase in patients with symptoms like this as Dr. Christopher Colwell said the fact that Brian died from this is rare but that the syndrome is more common than people think.

She stressed that she still SUPPORTS the federal legalization of marijuana as it would give people to seek room to help and not worry about consequences but that if people are seeing this happen to them over constant marijuana use then they need to address it immediately as this is what took her son's life.
