I mean, he could get a lot of details just from the show. He also confessed after a citizen offered 100k for info to the real killer. He sent a note confessing to Zellner and taped an audio confession for "Convicting a Murderer" (not related to making a murderer). If he was the killer, it supports the police tried to pin it on Avery and Dassey. Which would be an astronomical payday for them. However, it is likelier this is a false confession.
