From this page:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_common_misconceptions

Specifically -
European honey bees are often described as essential to human food production, leading to claims that without their pollination, humanity would starve or die out.[280][281] The quote "If bees disappeared off the face of the earth, man would only have four years left to live" has been misattributed to Albert Einstein.[282][283] In fact, many important crops need no insect pollination at all. The ten most important crops,[284] comprising 60% of all human food energy,[285] all fall into this category.

I don't know enough about this stuff honestly. Does anyone care to offer an insight?

IS it saying that everyone who is all "THE WORLD WILL END" is maybe jumping the gun? That the majority of our food isn't even pollinated by bees at all?

What about the other 40 percent? IF all bees went away, could we replace the other 40 percent of food?

Somethign bad starts happening and all of a sudden we are all gonna die. It's nonsense.

Did I read something wrong? Genuinely curious.

No, I had just never heard of this supposition that humanity would die without bees.

Food production falling by 40% would be pretty fucking terrible. We would basically have to fundamentally change the way we consume and start conserving it to a certain degree instead of letting it go bad amd throwing it out.
