He needs to back it with hard evidence There is proof in many different criminal cases, before it goes to court. If a guy robs a store, there is evidence of him on camera. The US president cannot do that. Even before you get to the money freezing, you cannot get foreign powers to dig dirt on your rivals for you. And then the threatening/bribing money part of it just makes it worse. And for the record, this was released in public before any of the whisteblower allegations were made public and the transcript matched the allegations. That's the "proof" in laymans terms. Then things get more serious as Trump tried to hide the call and cover up his wrongdoings And then there is the undisputed fact that when the complaint came through, it was taken to Barr, despite him being one of the players mentioned in the complaint. There's no way to just ignore that as not a conflict of interest. You can't just ignore all of this, keep ignoring evidence and facts and go 'Well hearsay and I don't see what he did that's illegal' you reach a point where you're just being dishonest There is proof in many different criminal cases, before it goes to court. Considering we were told for 2 years that there was undeniable evidence of crimes and collusion, it's hard to take any new claims seriously that purport Trump is going down This Time . To me, Democrats have yet to make an actual case for impeachment; they're really going to need something more substantial to convince people (other than their hardcore base) that it's a good idea to pursue impeachment when it'll just get voted down in the Senate. Manafort is really the only one that has had actual consequences so far. Considering we were told for 2 years that there was undeniable evidence of crimes and collusion, it's hard to take any new claims seriously that purport Trump is going down This Time . To me, Democrats have yet to make an actual case for impeachment; they're really going to need something more substantial to convince people (other than their hardcore base) that it's a good idea to pursue impeachment when it'll just get voted down in the Senate.
