Okay, I don't hate anime, I just think most of it is stupid. But a good anime can actually make me feel a certain satisfied way that nothing else can quite do.
Outside some films, my knowledge of anime is pretty limited to stuff that I've seen on Toonami.

That's it right there. The shit you see on Toonami is what I recommend.
Samurai Champloo are Cowboy Bebop my go to reccs.

Idk if these have aired on Toonami but Paranoia Agent, Black Lagoon, Baccano, Monster, Afro Samurai are pretty not weeby

It's easier to recommend movies though, like Akira, Ghost in the Shell, Berserk, anything Ghibli or from Satoshi Kon

There's a whole lot of anime tropes I hate. But there are some shows that I like despite having these tropes. FLCL, for example, utilize lots of stuff I hate in anime. I should hate that show. However, as far as anime goes, it's one of my favorites.

Art styles really depend. Some stuff I do like. Some stuff I hate; like that Loli/Moe bullshit.

Oh no. There are lots of shit from Toonami I like. Cowboy Bebop being obvious. Ghost in the Shell, Trigun, Full Metal Alchemist. I like all that.
Paranoia Agent is outstanding and Satoshi Kon, in general, was a very talented person. I've seen some of his films. Paprika I really liked.

But Toonami has also exposed me to dumb stuff too.

Jojo is a safe answer and is a standard rec at this point.
From the New World is adapted from a novel and so has a more serious structure than most.

I loved One Piece as a kid. Up until they met that annoying Reindeer thing. The last thing I remember about that show was that they fought a guy named Crocodile who had the power of sand. That was around the time I lost interest.

Oh, for cool and well animated action scenes, consider an anime movie called Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust. Im not sure Ive seen it all but some scenes I always return to because theyre cool.

I'd say give it a fairer shot, maybe 4-6 episodes starting from the beginning. If you fav'd G-Gundam and FLCL it really does seem like it's up your alley.

I started watching Monster since I see it recommended here regularly and definitely enjoying it so far. Its set in Germany and doesnt follow the stereotypical anime art style so the weeb factor is pretty low

Can find the episodes on YouTube, there are apparently distribution/legal issues surrounding it so doesnt stream on any services or have physical media for sale

My friend actually showed me an episode of One Punch man. It actually seemed pretty fun. He also put on Psycho-Pass (eh) and another show called "Gangsta" that was trying a bit too hard to be cool.
