What a silly topic. You make ALOT of money (real wealth) by investing and leveraging your money, not by selling your time for money, like most people (poor people)

Which makes no God damn sense in the slightest. Thats just creating something out of nothing on the backs of the people who actually do the fucking labor.

You mean the people who agree to do that work in exchange for fair compensation?

Its not fair compensation if youre putting me to work and making more money off my labor than I am.

They make money off you because they provide the tools, the workspace, and the legwork that made it possible to work there in the first place. And they take on the risks of financing everything, whereas you are only concerned with your work.

You make it sound like they're making off like bandits for nothing. If it's so fucking easy, why don't you do it?

Mark Cuban made a billion dollars by creating a software, and then selling it. Elon Musk did something similar with Paypal, and creating more companies. Some people buy and sell real estate at scale. Franchise owners, etc. It all makes perfect sense if you actually study money, instead of being closed off and offended by people who not only work hard, but smart.

I don't have an issue with people having a lot of money, I go say though, it's insane how easy it seems to grow meaningful money when you already have a lot of it.

Oh look, Cyric using logical fallacies and faulty logic at that. People are free to work wherever they want. They are free to create their own business if they want. They are free to study and have skills that actually make their labor worthwhile to business owners, resulting in very high compensation. They are also free to be lazy, not learn skills and just work at McDonalds or the equivalent. But then they have no real right to complain about their situation (like the majority do anyway)

Ok cool. Im fine with capitalism as long as there are appropriate socialistic policies in place to keep the lower classes from living lives of misery.

I will never understand people who think it's fine and normal for a human being to amass a fortune bigger than the annual GDP of several countries, or that that person got there by skimping out on avocado toast or whatever.

(And yes, I know that equity is not liquid, and wealth is not income. That's not the point to get your back up about here).

But what do I know, I'm a socialist commie from a dead empire

The question is then, how do you sto pit? These guys get wealthier because their money is in things that grow in value while most of us spend on consumption or things that lose it very quickly. Bezos and others grow faster by improving their company while the average citizen complains if they have to do any self improvement. Some take what they've been given and have their fun now, others later, and guess who holds more in the long run.

And as you get equity isn't cash, you expose the problem: no one wants wealth to hold and gain value. They want cash to buy shit which is why none of the redistribution ideas work. If it was as simple as just signing over assets, I think something could be arranged, but that won't feed the hungry. They'll get to starve owning 1/100000th of some Amazon warehouse, or kill the value as it becomes an overflooded market of people trying to sell it to people with little incentive to buy it.

It isn't a fair situation, but that fact doesn't make it a resource you can tap for the complete value of that wealth. Moreover it's probably firer than you want to admit. Saving was once seen as not just a virtue, but an American duty that has now been replaced with people with no wealth, but 2 tablets, a big screen TV, and several subscription services.

the resources used to create wealth are not infinite, which means wealth cannot be infinite. wealth has to come from somewhere.

Im not sure if youve noticed, but we live in a technology and services based economy. Technology in particular revolves around extracting more value out of whatever natural resources currently exist. Our ability to advance technology very well may be unlimited.

money's primary purpose is still granting or limiting access to resources like land, food, and shelter. in the context of generating wealth, human labour is also a resource.

and extracting "more value" out of natural resources (whatever that means) does not magically make the resources themselves infinite

I think he means like how Unkar Plutt gives Rey less food rations today for the same amount of labor she did yesterday. More value.

We need to improve quality of life for poor and middle class people who get taxed to hell and back. Hell iirc even your average millionaire gets dunked by taxes. We should focus on pulling those people up.

Imo best way to do that is to end the grip big businesses have on our government with unironic legal bribing. This government doesnt represent us and hasnt in who knows how long. Governents just write laws the fuck over the rest of us just to benefit their sugar daddies

Lol at somewhat improve society. Look at any commie revolution with ideas of redistributing wealth and it all ends the same. A bunch of angry, envious people feel justified in stealing anything people richer than them have and start killing or imprisoning everyone who stands in their way and everything goes to shit. There are 11 million millionaires in this country and several hundred thousand more millionaires are made every year. If you think appropriating their wealth would actually do more good than harm then you're not paying attention. Go out and earn money yourself.
